They even took the case back to how it should be - a thinner case with the same colour and style of lining as the originals (again ... I've had a few of those cases over the years and putting an AV65 case next to vintage showed how Fender had really tried to get these right).
I don't think that's the case (pardon the pun) any more. My AV65 Jaguar from 2013 and my AV64 Tele from 2012 both have the vintage-correct cases with the thinner tops. But I bought an AV65 case off ebay (Stratosphere parts), parted out from an NOS AV65 Jazzmaster, a few months back, and much to my shock it is no longer thinner! It's the same thickness as the old AVRI62 cases! Maybe someone else can shed more light on this, but it seems they stopped making the thinner cases sometime between 2013 and late 2015. Here's a picture showing what I mean (my 2013 AV65 case is on the right, the 2015 AV65 case is on the left):

All other aspects (interior, latches, logo placement, etc) are identical between the two cases.

I want one of those charcoal frost Jazzmaster's so much I can taste it. I've been staring lustfully every night. I just don't want to sell anything that I have now to make it happen. I've been wracking my brain on how I could do it. :(

FWIW I parsed down my Thin Skin collection in order to make my CFM happen. Not looking back, it was worth it.

I really wish I had the spare cash to get one of these - I have a feeling that I'll regret it down the line if (or realistically, when) the AV65 is discontinued.

That makes four of us, at least. I've had one in an open browser window for weeks now, neurotically hitting refresh to see if it's still there, or if somebody bought it. Worst part is, I'm not even a guitar player right now -- I play the damn drums; I'm supposed to be buying a drum kit. I literally have a show tomorrow night, and I'm playing one of the other band's kits because I don't own drums yet.

I found a guy locally selling a 12-piece kit of 70s Slingerlands with 17 cymbals (Sabian AA or better), 5 cowbells, 5 temple blocks, congas, bongos, tambourines, rototoms, a full set of octabans, and hardware for all this stuff. His asking price of $2,700 is certainly not a rip-off, but still a lot of money. I figure if I bought it, I could cherry pick the pieces I liked, and then make some of the money back by selling all the stuff I don't want/need.

"Or," says my ex-bandmate, "you could buy a $250 kit off Craigslist, and one of those Wildwood Jazzmasters."

He makes a good point.

If I was single I would throw it on a credit card. The only thing I could think of to sell is my record collection, but they'll be gone by the time I was able to do that. I'll keep on trying to weasel a way of getting one. What one are you thinking of buying? The 7.78 pound one?

I was about to pull the trigger on V1747202 -- but someone bought it. TODAY. Which one of you got it!?

I think it was 7.79 lbs, but what drew me to it was the super dark board, and the precise placement of the logo decal on the headstock. Has to match my other Jazzmasters so they look symmetrical when they're next to each other -- it's a crucial element of my sound. :)

Will have to wait for people to buy some more so they put out some other ones and hope one of them has the decal I need. There are still a bunch listed, but none are acceptable.

I still really want to see one out in the light. Some nice outdoor photos.

If they don’t make more you could always get a Danocaster for around the same money.

Same - I parted ways with a really really good AV65 Jaguar to help finance one of these. SO hell or high water - this one is staying.

I'll bet you it was V1746697.

I'm interested in seeing if they post new ones on Monday. They have to run out eventually..

I got mine shortly after they came out with CFM - 7.8ish pounds and a slightly thinner neck

I’m actually putting the money together. I’m finding odd and ends to sell around the house. I have a bottle of pappy van winkle lot b that an online liquor store will give me $300 for. That puts me up to $1800. I could probably float the difference, but I’m hesitating for some reason.

We're down to two now. The one I originally wanted still remains.
