50th Anniversary Jaguar Owners Club

Post by fenderjapan » Wed Dec 16, 2015 1:23 pm

I don't recall seeing an Owner Club for the 50th anniversery jags, and I searched without any luck..
So I'll start with this. I haven't been on here for ages, I've only logged in a few couple of times in the last 3 years. Without writing a thing..
I hope there are some usernames that I'll still recognize here.
And if not, to the newer user's. I've been here since '07. :)

Here's mine from 2012. I got it in april I believe, I've had it for 4 years. I bought it brand new.

Note how the gold undercoat are showing through at the arm contour. Same thing above the uppercontrol panel, but from the use of guitarpicks!

Has someone else's jag aged in some way?
The lower horn and the bottum has been exposed to UV-light. It has faded to orange! It's been hanging on the wall near a window:

There is nothing on the upper horn

I had to level and dress the frets. I had never done something like that before. So I took the most expensive guitar I had and practiced :D :wtf: :wtf:
But it went really well and it plays great now! 8)

I noticed that the neck had started to darken as well :w00t:

I had a chance to buy a blue one about a year ago and didn't. I regret it. It was one of the nicest guitars I've ever held. Damnit.

Beautiful pix! Should look excellent with that incoming spitfire! :)

I'm in with a Burgundy Mist Metallic 50th Anni Jag. I'll have to get some pix and post 'em. I really like the specs and appointments of this model, except the pickups are probably not my first choice. Nonetheless, with some careful EQ settings, I get really nice Jag tones through my SF Fenders so I haven't been compelled to change them.

Who else has one?

I am in! I have had two of them, both in LPB. I ended up selling one that I bought used and had dropped some AV65 pickups in. It was fantastic but I couldn't justify both of them, so I bought an ice blue AV65 with the money from it. I still have the one I bought brand new and I love it so much it is my home player only. This one is stock except the black guard, mastery bridge, and starcaster knobs. Eventually I want to drop some AV65 pups in it, the stock ones are okay but the av65 are astounding IMO. I have owned an insane amount of Jaguars, from Av65, Avri, thin skins, and even vintage, and this one is as well made and maybe the best playing of all of them. The moved trem position has never bothered me and because of this guitar I sometimes defend this unpopular feature around here. Anyway, here is my baby.

Those necks are so beautiful. Fender would have me spending a lot more money if they did more b&b necks.

I feel the same way, man. Great guitars in here, especially GR, as always ;) ;) :? :? :? :? The Starcaster knobs and black guard look so good together - you've got a really good eye for that stuff, man.

And also, I'd totally love to have one of these if they were closer in price to the Classic Player or something - I'd send the neck to Joey and have my dream guitar basically. Oh well, until there's an AV66 or I become the luckiest dickhead ever and run onto a JG66B in IBM, I'll be here, yearning :fp: :fp: :fp:

Thanks man! I do think the only thing that keeps these from being 100% perfect is them not having a matching headstock. If you watch Ebay and Reverb, these things often are all over the place on price. I have seen them go for close to $1500 all the way down to like $900. At the lower end of the spectrum, you are pretty close to classic player prices.

Great guitars. I sold mine, in LPB, to fund an AV65 in Sonic Blue during the Anderton's $1200 blowout sale, but it was a really great guitar. Like GR said, the pickups aren't great (not terrible by any stretch, either), but I can definitely see myself grabbing another one one day, especially the BMM finish.

Oh nice! You've torted her up :?
I am going to do the same to mine!
Also, I can see that you're using the same "straplocks" as I am! Red rubber washers from beer bottles and such :w00t:
