Pick your one guitar, one pedal and one amp...

Post by audiopablo » Thu Dec 10, 2015 11:35 pm

Sorry, don't know if this is the right forum or not, but this is the one I go to the most.

So... if you can only pick one guitar, one pedal and one amp. What combination do you choose to play forever to make you happy? Not for a show, just the tone that makes you happy.

I find the concept completely baffling!

However, if pushed, purely on flexibility and tone etc, I'd go for my Squier JMJM with roller bridge and Mojo bridge pickup, Strymon El Capistan and my Laney Cub stack!

Es-335, rat, jc-120
I feel like each of those items offer me the most versatility...especially since i get 2 extra pedals from the jc(chorus&vibrato)
What is acoustic? Oh, you means a grandpa's guitars? A grandpa's guitars? That's for pussies and grandpas. I think you know it.

Hell ... I'll base it on my own stuff, as I'm lucky enough to have got to that set up.

ES345 into wampler faux tape echo into Swart AST.

I generally only play clean or just on the verge of breaking up and occasionally use a little bit of delay/echo, so this is perfect. The ES345 covers a lot of ground too in terms of sound (it can even sound pretty close to a jazzmaster with the varitone engaged in certain settings).

If the question was to pick my favorite rig (rather than one guitar to cover all potential needs) then it would be to replace the ES345 with my Jazzmaster. :)

Of my own gear -
Squier Japan 1983 Tele Custom
Fender USA 1972 Twin Reverb
... pedal? well I guess the Twin has a footswitch. But I haven't found an overdrive I like.

TC Spark Boost (I don't really need this, but I'll take it since you said I can have a pedal)

Jazzmaster, Tuner, Princeton Reverb.

Choosing only one pedal is the most difficult pick. It's not that I play with a lot of effects but I cannot decide between fuzz or delay so I choose a tuner.

My own black modified Tele, a Line6/Bognor Spider Valve II with the full controller board and an EHX Linear Power Booster pedal.

Going from my own gear, I'd do my MIJ Jag, Beavis Audio FKR (modded Rat) and my Vibro Champ. It's a toss up between dirt and delay for the pedal, but I really need to bring the rawk.

Actually, my "fantasy" list wouldn't be that different (make the Jag MIA and a slightly more robust amp), now that I think about it.
