It's stuff like that that makes me glad I'm a lefty playing righty.

Having Nels Cline and Marc Ribot doing things that way feels pretty good, too.

was doing a search for a jaguar special and found that site... there doesn't seem to be any disclaimer about shipping outside Japan on there, or maybe it's written in Japanese, i dunno. i tried the google translation tools but couldnt find anything.

I am building parts guitars from now on, I dont want to deal with fender anymore. Over priced and not up to original spec. I don't see why they dont make a more affordable offset. Most offset players would welcome a highway 1 or something. I can't see myself paying $1400 when I can dig and find a MIJ or CIL for around $500. The american guitar is not $900 better in my opinion.

I think Fender should try and make some lower priced versions of those guitars, it's not like it'd be hard to pull off.

I see it like this........
Mex STD Jaguar - $450
Mex STD Jazzmaster - $400
Mex Fat Jaguar 2H - $450

Squier
Squier Mustang - $220.00

Get rid to the Tornado, and make a Jazzmaster Deluxe with twin humbuckers and a hardtail instead

Maybe a Mustang with a Strat type fulcrum trem stylized to the Mustang style (kinda like an Ibanez Talman)

I shoudl work for them, I'm unlimited in ideas

Having originated this thread, I feel like a total tool.  I wonder why they bother to post the notice if they just ignore it?  Apparently Fender isn't keeping very close tabs on their dealers.  Not that I have a problem with it. ;)

I think some dealers have stopped shipping- Guitar Japan don't seem to be willing to ship overseas. I don't think Fender can really do much about it.

GAK have seriously limited their coloutr range like most placesm which is annoying. However the CIJ Offset run had to end at some point, it's been limited edition for 10 years now!

I was talking to my pal Jamie at the music store and he was telling me about a conversation with a Fender employee, where she was very excited about the new guitars that were going to be a NAMM this year and how, "we're getting back to what we do best and getting rid of nonsense like the Toronado."  There was talk of a line of Squire Vintage Modified guitars (like the line of basses they did this year- I just got the VM fretless Jazz Bass and it's AWESOME!) and an expanded line of traditional Fender models.

I smell offset hope in the air!

That makes you optimistic? I would have translated that as

"what we do best" = Strats and Teles

"nonsense like the Toronado" = and all that other weird offset rubbish.

:(

I suppose "expanded line of traditional Fender models" offers some hope though.

I'm trying real hard to not kill myself, so I try really, really, really hard to be optimistic.

But hell, I like Strats and Teles and maybe Fender will see the light.  The big two offsets were Fender's biggest-selling models at one time, so I reckon that makes them traditional.

I got the impression the Fender employee was talking about getting away from flashy Strats and Teles, like the "Big Block" series and stuff like that.
