Fender headstock I would like to see reissued

Post by Aurora » Thu Sep 25, 2014 8:02 pm

I saw this listing on eBay for a Jazzmaster prototype and thought that this was a headstock design way ahead of it's time. I'd love to see this design either reissued on a limited basis, or used on a new offset design from Fender. Opinions?

Reissued? I'd like to see it issued. That thing's been making the rounds for a couple months, I seem to remember quite a few of us smacking our lips and drooling at that headstock. I saved the pic in case I ever have a custom neck done by a luthier, so I can say "gimme one of these" and everyone will pee their pants a little when they see it.
This is an excellent rectangle

:? Yeah, issued is probably a better way to put it. The price has dropped a lot on this thing since I first saw it listed.

My bad, I must have missed the earlier post 'cause I'm sure I would have remembered it. I did some searching for previous posts and found that it has been discussed all across the interwebz. Reminds me of the illegitimate offspring of a Parker Fly and a Starcaster. That curve is just so sexy, the proportions are just spot on.

Personally I like the hockey stick headstock but only as a 6 string. I really liked the modified one used on the John 5 telecaster - I'd love that on a jazzmaster or modified supersonic

It's on to something but, it's not quite there yet.

Is that carved or just painted? I like the Coronado shape of the outline but I am not sure of two tone business...

It's not painted, just carved out of the headstock. Within a short space of time luthiers were trying out many new designs, there was no accepted norms yet for electric guitars, so some designs were considered "way out there". I personally love the Gibson Moderne, and the Squier Supersonic, but these designs still polarize opinion, as does this headstock apparently.
