New CS model? Fender Custom Shop Proto Jazzmaster
Just came across these @davesguitar.com
I think the jag/jm hybrid pickguard looks cool, but the strat hardtail? Notsomuch.

Looks awesome. I wouldn't mind the Strat bridge, having in mind its proto-ness. But with the trem, it would be a dream's dream. I love all the finishes, and the sunburst is for some reason the most alluring. Maybe because it's paired with a white pickguard, which is something I always love seeing on Jags and JM's.

Also, it's what the Squier VMJM Special SHOULD have been.

Alder body with a contoured heel, Mid 60′s Oval C shaped Maple neck with a 9.5″ radius Rosewood fingerboard and medium jumbo frets, American Vintage Jazzmaster bridge and neck pickups, Standard volume/tone controls with a 3 way toggle switch, Hardtail bridge.
Looks like reg. 25,5' scale

Great looking guitars. All three of them look great, and it looks like they took the best of everything. I love that they are a new model, and not reliced, and I was interested enough to click on the link.
$4,000? I know they are CS models, but come on. Necks bolted on to painted bodies with modern electronics screwed into plastic. Fender deserves their profit for building their brand, but that price is shocking. Is there a market for new guitars that cost that much? That aren't craftsman dependent like a high end acoustic?
I know I am an old crab, but that makes me shake my head.

no trem and and strat hardtail? No, Thanks! If I'd want a string through body guitar I'd buy a tele
Also, I'd never pay a custom shop price for that thing.

Re: New CS model? Fender Custom Shop Proto Jazzmaster
is it my eyes or is the placement of the volume and tone control plate a bit odd? Not matching the curve! compare it with a blacktop model or with a traditional Jag:smalahove wrote:

I like everything but the jack placement. Especially the white one.

I don't think it's your eyes. I think it looks wonky too.PJazzmaster wrote: is it my eyes or is the placement of the volume and tone control plate a bit odd? Not matching the curve! compare it with a blacktop model or with a traditional Jag:
But it might be a trick of the light. I think there is a slight difference in the tilt of each guitar that is playing a trick with the camera angle, and lighting on the roundover. It better be anyway!

Cool, when do you think the Squier version is coming out? Oh yeah, 4 years ago!
