BUMP

Surprisingly hard to find info about the AVRI62 line. Specifically curious about price points. Can anyone tell me how much the AVRI62 Jazzmasters and Jaguars were when they launched and how much they cost when they were discontinued? I know the Marr is like the last bastion of the AVRI62 line for offsets so I assume somewhere similar to it?

Insane how many different colors they released the 62s in and how stupidly, infuriatingly few have been released for the AV65. The silver JMs and IBM Jags must have sold well because they never come up for sale and didn't seem to be around long at all. It is a fucking CRIME that I can not order a LPB AV65 Jaguar or Jazzmaster - seriously, how that's not a thing I'll never know. Seems like they kind of abandoned the line, right? Like, they haven't updated colors since I first really got back into guitar in maybe 2014/2015? I think I remember Aztec Gold being available for a minute on the JM but that went away fast and became Olympic White and hasn't budged since, and it's been YEARS. If they aren't selling the way that Fender needs them to, maybe they should make this holiday price cut permanent and sell them for like $1,800/1,900 before discount? The AV65s are seriously incedible and special guitars, it's just kind of infuriating that you can only buy one specific color readily if you want one and inevitably are ending up with the same guitar as every other dickhead who wants one.

I mean really, people buying custom shop stuff are buying it for reasons other than color probably 999 times out of every 1,000 while the rest of us have to settle. You won't convince me that the lack of an option to just pick whatever color you want, like a guy used to be able to do when buying a new Fender guitar, is solely about not eating into the custom shop's bank. I think, obviously, that this would gain this company nothing but goodwill and excitement from customers. Anything that makes them closer to the actual company of the 50s/60s is a good thing, and it's only a bonus for them that it would be such a customer happiness focused decision.

LONG STORY SHORT I really, really wish Fender weren't such dickasses with their color selection. Who wouldn't shit their dick over a Sherwood Green AV65 Jaguar? COME ON COOL DUDES BE COOL DUDES!

AVRI's launch MSRP was $1,699 for the JM and $1,749 for the Jag. That's according to Fender's own price list from 1999. However, there were *massive* discounts on these right from the start. Nobody sold them for MSRP. It seems like today the MSRP is held a lot better than it was back then. I distinctly remember seeing AVRI JM's selling new for $999, then for a long time $1,199 seemed the standard price.

At the end I think they were selling for $1,499. I got mine for $1,200 or so but that was on closeout, and it was basically a scratch and dent.
