NGD Marauder
Spontaneous purchase!
I haven't plugged it in yet, both pickups have slipped into the cavities so they may have been messed around with.
The pickup selector switch is really bent and there is quite a bad ding on one side of the body.
Nevertheless, a real bargain for a Fender. My brother has a LPB version which is a stand up guitar.
So much potential too, I'd like to make a pickguard, pop on white pickup covers, change the bridge and trem block for a MIM one.
Maybe even switch out the hardware for gold if I can figure out a way to convert the control plate. I may add comp stripe decals too!

Nice, glad to see someone giving these a go. I got to hold one briefly and I noticed the neck felt like a nice profile, quite a chunky C, what do you think of the necks on these?
Cheers

I think these are sweet! Would like to pick one up to mess around with, and do a DIY paint job. Cool guitar!

Re: NGD Marauder
The neck is probably the best thing, my brothers' Marauder has beautiful birdseye. The neck feels less chunky than my HW1 Strat.
I was looking at making a pickguard out of scrap copper but think it will be too shiny. The other option was to make a tort pickguard from material available to buy online but it looks too cheap. After seeing a black on black picture of a Marauder, I might opt for that, however I might just buy some self adhesive black vinyl and cover the existing pearloid pickguard with it. Either that or use black spray paint.
Heres an example

Re: NGD Marauder
the neck on the only Marauder I've played was really nice. I liked the sound of the neck pickup a lot too. The rest wasn't really for me. I just kept wishing it was a Jazzmaster.

Re: NGD Marauder
Happy NGD!
I love mine. The neck feels really great, and the Jazzmaster pickup sounds cool. I have no problems with the triblebucker, but it's an easy swap for a regular humbucker if you so desire.
You mentioned white pickup covers. Here's what I did to mine:
The Jazzmaster pup is obviously no problem, but for the triplebucker, I got one of these white no-hole covers from Allparts, and cut slits myself. The rout is pretty tight, so I had to sand and file the edges a bit to make the cover fit down over the pickup, but it worked out well. I'll probably swap the trem out for a MIM one too.

I keep seeing these for cheap and every time I do I have a Sophie's choice moment between getting one or a squier jaguar. Gotta say, after seeing the one with white covers, jury is really out.

You got a steal
Spend 50 quid or so sorting out those few problems out and you're sorted.

Good god, that neck. Are those stickers or did you really put blocks in it?phutyle wrote:Here's what I did to mine:

I wish I could say I had the time and skills to put real blocks in it!Dokterrock wrote:Good god, that neck. Are those stickers or did you really put blocks in it?
Jokomo Aged White Pearl stickers. Easy to put on, don't get in the way, and very cheap. I had been considering putting a new neck with blocks on it, but when I found out about these, I thought is try them first. I like the feel of the current neck, so now I don't feel the need for a new one at all. Even if the the stickers only last a year and need to be replaced (and reports I've read say they last longer), they're so cheap it's worth it.
Yeah, I know it's cheating.

Mine has a real thin neck. It feels like it should be on an ibanez.DaveC wrote:Nice, glad to see someone giving these a go. I got to hold one briefly and I noticed the neck felt like a nice profile, quite a chunky C, what do you think of the necks on these?
I love my lpb one. Like yourself I want to get white pickup covers. I am dropping a new trem unit into mine and is
I am going to a 3 way switch, mojo pickup in the neck (the stock pup is good though) and some sort of white bucker at the back. I think I have an air Norton some where.
Oh and a new guard, I don't like the reliced pearloid
For the money they are great, I bought mine new and I still don't mind that I dropped over 300 quid on it.

Mine has a really thin neck too. I have to say, I've never heard a Marauder neck described as "chunky" before.meltedbuzzbox wrote:Mine has a real thin neck. Re: NGD Marauder
Interesting, maybe it just felt chunky because of the angle I was holding it at.
Cheers
