Sherwood Green Samples

Post by NickH » Fri Oct 27, 2006 1:09 pm

Hey fine offset friends,

I am going to be refinishing my 85 MIJ. The heavy poly finish just pisses me off and due to some substantial chips and dings, cuts me occasionaly. I am thinking of sherwood green but of course I'm having a really hard time finding some pics of the AVRI in that color. As i know most of you have significant picture collections I am hoping someone might throw up a few that they may have.

One last quick question, does anyone know if reranch will ship to Canada?

Thanks again.

Nick

I imagine Reranch probably will ship to Canada, I think it's just that they can't send their paints by air. I'm sure someone at their site or at the Reranch forum would give you a definitive answer though.

Sherwood Green .. I'm sure I have a couple of pics at home but I'm at work right now. There's a pic over at the gallery at Higher Evolution.

There's a couple of pics of a sherwood '65 here as well.

A ridiculously priced '59 with mint guard ..

Another '65 in a German store ..

(I haven't included the pics inline because the links probably aren't stable.)

it's a pretty hard colour to take a pic of I think, as I've never seen a pic accurately representing the colour

the guitarist in my band had a sherwood green AV JM and it looked amazing...the green was really deep and dark...I think I have a pic somewhere that is at leat 90% close to what the colour was...I'll dig it up for you....

I had a AV Jag that was Sherwood.

It's one of (if not THE) most underrated custom colors, IMO.

So pretty...      :?

in my opinion, this is the closest pic to representing, what a Sherwood Green AV Jazzmaster looks like:

???

You mean with a big hairy arm reflected in it?

[edit]

Just kidding .. superb work as always.

Is one of those the AVRI that you sold for Lecain?

[2nd edit]

Oops, missed that you'd played that last one, so I guess that's the Offset Formerly Owned By Lecain.

hi NickH, the novaks fender custom colours pages have a dupont reference number for sherwood green. i dunno if you could take this to a car paint supplier and get a pot from them for your refinisher (or yourself) to use?

it is a beautiful colour and what makes it even more desirable is the fact that you just don't seem to see it much.

That last picture actually makes me a little nervous .. the JM is balanced so delicately in the non-tilting guitar stand, and those flagstones look really hard.

The thing about Sherwood is that is looks totally different depending on the light.

It can look almost like a mint metallic green, or a dark forest green.

I painted a telecaster in Reranch Sherwood Green about 10 years ago, when I knew even less than I do now.  It of course did not come out even close.  Those great JM pics really show what a great color it can be.

Does anyone have a photo of Sherwood Green with a tortie or gold 'guard?  I just can't grok the white, you know?
