The staytrem and a set of labella flats transformed this pig.
It's badass. I rebuilt the wiggle stick with some silicone grease and it's better, but still not perfect.

Any ideas on just a replacement arm? Somebody cut this one previous to my getting it, I think.

Go with a staytrem arm, got mine after a few weeks of use on the stock arm on my with my AV65 jazzy and it works wonders. I'm not to sure about how well it fits the squier trems, but an upgrade to an American or at least a japanese trem unit would be a good idea either way, especially with the crazy tension with the bass strings.

Also quick question while I'm in this thread, is there a plate you can get there that is a blade + toggle? Imagine a MarrGuar style switch plate but with the strangle switch next to it... is there room for a setup like this? I've never been a fan of the jag switches, but damn I've been having some GAS over a bass vi after I played a used one at my local GC ;D

Strider13 on here would be the person to speak to about a custom plate - he has a thread in sales corner somewhere, and makes things like these.

Awesome Nitrate Celluloid Super Red Tort Guard I just bought to give my Oly VM VI a facelift! IMO The stock guard it came with looks awful. I personally love the very red vintage tort guards. This was not cheap though.

Slightly upgraded (though it was pretty great out of the box). Staytrem bridge, $20 black guard, full pocket shim. Even stock, these are amazing for the money.

I'd be curious to see how something like those GFS lipstick pickups or gold foil pickups would go in the Bass VI.

Also, will a Mustang bridge be fine to use?

I tried La Bella flats on mine, and unlike every other brand, these are glossier than the neck. My fingers drag on them, like glass. I put La bella rounds back on, so I can still slide up.

I didn't need a fancy trem arm to stop the slop, just temporary thread locker, filling the voids.

Decided to pull the trigger on one of these. Thought long and hard about my fave colour out of white and black.

Chose black. Looks cleanest with the B&B, imo.

Started checking all my favourite online retailers for the best deal.

Find out black has been discontinued.

You could just try getting a 2nd hand one? You might get lucky and find one that someone has already upgraded.

Where did you get the $20 black guard if you don't mind me asking?

I've been looking, trust me! Not seen a black one for sale since March.

This is no way to deal with crippling GAS.

Just for everyone's information, I've phoned around a few places this morning and one got back to me confirming Black VIs are discontinued. They also said there are several other models being discontinued due to the rosewood/cites issue (they didn't specify Squier or Fender but I imagine both are affected) and that VIs in sunburst and white are available in "limited numbers".

If you're on the fence it seems now is the time..!

Wow, so glad I finally pulled the trigger. Just got mine today after special ordering at my local store. I've wanted one for a long time. The one I got is a really nice example of one of these. Nice grain on the sunburst, and it seems like the fit and finish is excellent. Very excited.
