Re: SQUIER XII PETITION ON PAGE 14 - SIGN NOW
I love Fenders, but as a company, they are such a shithole right now that I think it's more substantial to start petitions and/or boycott regarding their business practices before petitioning for reissues of old models. If the new Mustangs and one of the recently released Bass VI's is any indication, they'll mess up the XII.

Mike - can you elaborate on what Fender is doing wrong as a company? Compared to Gibson, they seem all right in my book. However, I do agree that the Bass VI was definitely not market ready, but on the other hand, the J. Mascis Jazzmaster is pretty awesome.

I can summarize, but for more details you can ask a local independent retailer.
-In an effort to try and take advantage of the Gibson "luxury pricing" theory, they jacked up their prices, in some cases by over $1,000.00 in the middle of an economic depression and have not lowered them.
-They tried to patent the double cutaway in order to unfairly crush competition.
-They closed Fender Japan and by extension, severely limited the options of left-handed players and reduced the quality of their instruments as a whole.
-They refuse to create left-handed versions of most of their base models under even the Squier imprint; having recently shut down their main manufacturing plant that made them. They instead give pathetic, nonsensical excuses about machinery on their website and point people to their exorbitantly expensive custom shop.
-Their innovation has become stagnant and they are resorting to false advertising in cases such as the offset "Mustangs" and the "Wide Range" humbuckers that have rails in them. Lee Ranaldo actually sent the pickups from his own signature models to Curtis Novak to have the rails removed and get them fitted with threaded magnets.
-Their online business coupled with their demands regarding purchasing to retailers are forcing small retailers to drop their products altogether and are causing serious financial problems for large retailers, such as Guitar Center.
-Most of their "new lines" are repainted versions of their standard guitars with features removed.

I own both, the Pawn Shop Bass VI and the JMJM. Both are fine instruments, just not vintage spec. The humbucker in bridge position added some pretty nice sounds to the Bass VI.GunnerWatson wrote:I do agree that the Bass VI was definitely not market ready, but on the other hand, the J. Did they ever put out either of these with trem locks? I recently played one and other than that, it was great.higgsblossom wrote:I own both, the Pawn Shop Bass VI and the JMJM. Not only that, but they refuse to bring out any interesting colors we all want. Squire has got all of the attractive looking finishes / combos imoMike S wrote:

nearly five years...
Hi - the Squier Bass VI has been more popular than most of us could have imagined. I think a Squier XII would do really well... XII revivals come and go. They should make say 5000 and in some funky colours... Gold, Sherwood, as well as some staples ... Black, Sunburst. They can do the basic quality... Aftermarket parts will be available to do the upgrades. I'm ready Fender... I've owned two 1965 originals and would I pay for vintage again at today's prices? No. Squier Classic Vibe? Yes take my money.

I know this would be too much to ask but an electric XII in lake placid blue with matching headstock with blocks and binding would be awesome. They made blocks and binding with the VI and have a matching headstock on the 60s classic vibe strat. So... Come on Fender/Squiers. Do it. I'll be on of the first in line to get it!

I was hoping for a summer 2017 release, but I fear that nothing will come on the 12-string electric from the Big F.

Re: SQUIER XII PETITION ON PAGE 14 - SIGN NOW
I hope if they ever do a Fender/Squier XII that they would keep the hockey stick headstock and not the Venus XII headstock or anything weird. I'd be afraid it would be a pawn shop series. I hope it would be vintage modified series. But whatever I just want a XII.andrewt248 wrote:THIS... with matching Inca Silver hockey stick headstock.tonehungry wrote:i would love to have inca silver squire XII , please

Re: SQUIER XII PETITION ON PAGE 14 - SIGN NOW
I've signed this petition, probably more than once. But I gave up and built my own 95% to spec Fender XII. It wasn't hard, though slightly time consuming; almost everything is readily available but the 4 way pickup selector switch was kind of a bitch to track down. I'd recommend anyone building one themselves. People on here build the bodies - Jazprod built me mine as well as the pickguard. Curtis Novak for pickups, Warmoth for neck, almost everything else is easy to come by after that.
I hate to sound like a negative Nancy, but I feel like you're dreaming if you think Fender would make a Fender XII that wasn't a total abomination... It wouldnt have the hockey stick headstock, it would probably have some ridiculous pickup combinations (3 humbucker Jazzmaster pickups) and would only come in sunburst black or red.
I would like for it to happen though so everyone can get a XII string.
PS
Check out Stratocaster XII's... They're Fender Japan's best kept secret, I own one and they're really nice + have a matching headstock.
