Re: best hard case for mustang?
I found that a normal strat case will fit perfectly, the only thing being you might need to put a pair of socks around the headstock if you wanted it to be rock solid if you put it in a car boot or something! Strat cases are also way cheaper than the real mustang ones, I saved about £120 over buying a "real" mustang case

Only the rectangle style cases will work I think, moulded ones won't. Here's my 69 reissue in the tweed strat case

Sorry to drag up an old topic, but does anyone know why no official Mustang cases have compartments? I've looked high and low for one like the G&G I have for my Jaguar, but none of them have compartments.
They seem to have the room.

Re: best hard case for mustang?
I've wondered that, too. The strange thing is that I've seen photos of Mustang cases that have the compartment, but I'm not sure if they actually exist or not. Not too long ago, WWBW had one on ebay for $119, and the photo showed the compartment. I ended up buying it, but when it got here it was just a standard Mustang case without the compartment. I kept it anyway. It was cheaper than any of the other Mustang cases I've seen and it was a new Fender case, so I was happy enough with it. Here's a similar one for sale: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Mustang- ... 3cef90025cMrLambyLamb wrote:Sorry to drag up an old topic, but does anyone know why no official Mustang cases have compartments? The other option would be to spend almost $4,000 on a CS Mustang. It looks like the case for those comes with a compartment.

I bought one of these cases from Barry Clark Music. It's a good case for the price, and has a compartment in the middle:

i bought one of these back in 98 with my cyclone. been carried all over the damn place and has held up great, spraypainted logos/shenanigans and all. the lining and padding is quite adequate and is a nice bed of rest for any mustang/cyclone/bronco/duo-sonic etc. guitar. and the storage compartment is a huge bonus compared to the og silver mustang cases. even loaned it to a mate of mine so he could fearlessly tote his old 70's comp blue mustang around touring for a few summers. didnt want to ruin his original silver case.

Nice! That is seriously the first one I have seen with a compartment.schoolie wrote:I bought one of these cases from Barry Clark Music. It's a good case for the price, and has a compartment in the middle:

daCod, are you sure that Music123 case has a compartment? Like dren68, I have seen plenty that have a picture with a compartment (and for some reason a tele in a tele case) but then the description says there is no compartment.daCod wrote:Here's a similar one for sale: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Mustang-" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 3cef90025c

(I asked Music123 and will let everyone know what they say.)
Also, has anyone confirmed or denied whether a Mustang will fit in a Strat case (without needing to add a t-shirt or something)? I think there might be some side to side room.

The Music123 cases do NOT have compartments (despite them being pictured).

Unless anyone finds a better option, I think I'm gonna go with the Barry Clark:daCod wrote:well fuck!!! that sucks and is complete misrepresentation and complete shyte maybe back in 96-7-8 they had them....? will do some searching and see what i can muster up for ya. i feel bad mang

The lack of compartment on every other case I've seen is a dealbreaker for me.

Re: best hard case for mustang?
Hi sorry to revive this old thread but I wanted mention an issue I had with the Barry Clark Music case suggested earlier in case anyone else happens upon this thread googling around trying to find a Mustang case. I have a 2016 "Offset" series Mustang and it doesn't fit snugly at all in the Barry Clark case from eBay. When I pick the case up (with it closed of course) the guitar falls out of the neck support to the bottom of the case. The picture below shows the position the guitar is inside the case when you just walk with it. Unfortunately I realized this after I threw away the packaging and it was too late to return it. I was able to get it to not move around by stuffing a towel under the guitar and it is otherwise a nice case at least.

Re: best hard case for mustang?
What a pain in the arse!
I'm also in the market for a mustang case. I think I'll just have to suck it up and buy an over-priced fender one, even though they don't have compartments.
The other options just aren't great.
Cheers
