Gold guard too.....
Sounds suspicously like a CS run but who knows. I'd definitely be interested in one.....
Looks kind of sort of like?

Jay's had so many nice JMs...I'd love the custom shop to do a run of the sunburst one with all the stickers on it...I think it was a '65?

good ol' J
when I saw them the third time and I had the backstage pass, he was standing 2 meters away from me...my friend said "go talk to him, he's one of your heroes"
and I was like "man, it's J Mascis...what am I supposed to say to him that could interest him??"
my friend nodded, and got us another drink
I was just as nervous being near J as I was when Kevin Shields was next to us in the crowd at a Mudhoney gig! I almost dropped my beer when my friend pointed him out!!

. Meeting heroes tends to turn me into a 16-year old.
Here's another pic from that series. Different guitar.

Anyway, back to the topic. So is this signature model going to be a copy of the '59 in that picture (that is a '59, right?), or will it be a New Guitar?

Re: J. Mascis signature JM
here´s j playing the prototype (just days before it was tolen):
i´m not crazy about it. it´s just too purple, and i have something against matching headstocks, don´t ask me why. and it looks like 13 screws in the pickguard, it should be only 9 for crying out loud!!!

I think we need to send J a link to the dressing room!

Image edited to better show the color of the guitar...
I must say, I quite like it. Purple and gold... I guess he thinks of himself as royalty a bit?

Re: J. Mascis signature JM
I really like looking at pics of that guitar. I dont know if I would own it, but it'd be tempting. I know he loves purple, but I always associate LPB with J.
To add to the meeting J stories - when I was in maybe 10th grade or so I ran into J a few blocks away from the club in NYC where Dinosaur Jr had played earlier that night. I said hi to him and told him it was a great show. He said thanks, and then the weirdest thing happened. Tim Meadows, from Saturday Night Live, pulled up in a BMW, got out, and waved to J. J said he had to go and got in the car with him, and Meadows absolutely floored the car out of there. To this day it seems like the craziest dream ever, except it really happened.
I then met J about three years later during the final Mike Johnson era tour. My friend, who was also with me on that earlier night, was opening up for Dinosaur Jr in Massachusetts. My friend told J that story and he just sort of chuckled at us and told us to help ourselves to the beer.

I wouldn't be able to handle that at all!zhivago wrote: Kevin Shields was next to us in the crowd at a Mudhoney gig! I almost dropped my beer when my friend pointed him out!!
When I went to see Shellac I realised I was standing right beside Albini when the support bands were on. I had to get out of there!

Albini cancelled a shellac show in my podunk town! I was muy furioso!
I'm kind of disappointed that the first signature JM is oging to have a break-o-matic on it...

I gotta confess, I love super sparkley finishes. All those JMs he's playing with the massive metal flakes are badass to me.
