Here's a nice CIJ Jazzmaster with block inlays, painted headstock, and binding for a reasonable price:

Check it out!

Does the binding actually help in comfort in some way?  Or neck stability?

If it really is all just cosmetic, I'll probably just save my money and go for the dots.
Purely cosmetic. Go for the dots. I am partial to dots, however.

spacecadet!  You're my new best friend!  I didn't bother checking out your links the first time, as I've been to a number of these Japanese sites and I was actually too lazy to try to figure them out.  Then when you said that first link was the store from my eBay link, I checked them out.  Son of a gun if they didn't have some stuff in English I could actually understand!  So, yesterday I sent a "querie" and last evening heard back from philip@stringnet with a price for the guitar plus shipping.  He didn't specify if sunburst was available...but he didn't say it wasn't, so I'm taking that as a good sign.  Now it's just a matter of time til Uncle Sam sends me a check and then I can pull the trigger!!!
Has anyone living in the States have one shipped from Japan and how long does it take?
One more guitar, then I'll practice!

I'm waiting for a CIJ candy apple red B&B Jazzmaster myself. I ordered it from Stringnet Japan, via eBay. Checked back and forth that the price on their site approx. matched their BIN price on eBay and it did. Probably could have ordered it via e-mail directly, but I kinda felt safer going the eBay way. Legal stuff and all that. I've been checking the eBay Stringnet store frequently and the B&B Jazzmasters are relisted continuously as far as I can see, it didn't seem like they would run out anytime soon. Only thing, they were kinda slow on e-mail replies and didn't answer my question whether or not they had the OCR color in stock until I had asked 3 times for it. Plus, I ordered it 12 days ago and the guitar hasn't shipped yet...they say shipping is scheduled this weekend though, and apologied several times for the delay. I'm even getting a free digital tuner as an apology.

I thought Norway was in South Jersey! :o  Thanks for the let-know...
While I have you on the line, ripped, are there any Stringnet B&B Jazzmasters listed on eBay right now?  I can't seem to be able to locate any.  I, too, would rather go through eBay for my purchase.  Or are they on Norway's eBay?
My wife and I are big fans of The Scandanavian Cook, by the way.  He's on PBS on Saturday afternoons...

I like the swedish cook, but he's a muppet  :D

Well, don't worry about Ishibashi. I got a friend who ordered about 5 or 6 guitars from them over the years. not only are they of superb quality, they are shaprly priced as well!
He had his jag shipped in a case for a few bucks more....I bought one of hs jazzmasters and it tully is a good one....ALder body, sweet neck (dots) I only upgraded is with a pair of AVRI pu's and threw out the CIJ whammy bar and whammy bar nut and installed AVRI parts instead which I got from Angela.com....Super JM....(I always like someone's guitar refin's projects gone horribly wrong....)

Yeah, I'm leaning towards dots.  I like the look of them better too, I think, although I could go either way really.  But at the moment, seems like for me, the one thing blocks and binding has going for it is that there are relatively fewer of those models out there, especially since Fender America doesn't make them.  But I'll probably end up just saving my money and going for dots; easier to justify to the wife too  ::)

Hm, that's weird...I can't even find the part of the Stringnet store on ebay that sells guitars...no, we don't have ebay here in Norway actually. Can you order the japanese models with case?? How much extra does that cost? And, what sort of case is it...?

Is having some extra white witch hat knobs a good excuse to buy another guitar?
