hey guys, to all of you who have seen sean lennon play live:  have you ever seen him play an orange jaguar with a tortoise shell pickguard, blocks and binding?

i sold my 68' orange refin in austin about 8  years ago and he ended up buying it from the shop.  i was just wondering if he still had it.

There's a post here with a pic of him playing it.  Try a search or maybe someone else can remember the thread title.

oh my god!  i always wondered if he kept it!  i assumed he had so many guitars i'd never see it again.  i hate to tell him, but that's a repro pickguard.  it had a mint on it when i bought it.  i originally bought it because it looked pink in the shop, but i never did really get into that orange color.

so i traded it in for a refinned 63' which had a much better neck and feel to it.  then i had a guy nitro it "pink"  and when i got the guitar back i swear it WAS THE SAME COLOR AS THE ONE I TRADED IN!

see if you can tell the difference!

it was then that i decided i was never meant to have a pink jaguar.  it had been universally decreed that no matter what i did i was going to have a wierd
orange jaguar for the rest of my life.

i'm glad he's actually playing it though.

Looks like at least a different neck, and if I'm not mistaken, a different pickguard, judging by the spots.

The guitar in his posts is the replacement he bought, not the sean lennon one.

If I understood correctly...

yea, that's the 63' jag that i traded the 68 for.  the guy at the shop told me sean lennon had come and bought a bunch of stuff. so i assumed
it ended up as someones birthday present.  isn't that what rock stars do?  buy expensive guitars for birthday presents?  i never thought i'd see it
again.  its nice to know its actually being played instead of just sitting in its case.

i traded the 68' an arp axxe (synthesizer) for it.  and then traded a roland chorus echo to get the 63' refinned.  still have no regrets.

i've got an awesome video i need to encode that shows my old band with me bouncing between the 68' and an early electric xii.

I wish this thread had popped up earlier.  A friend of mine is a photographer and actually got to hang out with Sean when he was in town a few weeks ago.  He probably could have asked him about that Jag...

i'm always jealous of the 59' les paul burst owners and zemaitis collectors who have so much documented history on their guitars.  i'd love to know who played my guitars before me and what kind of music they made.  it facinates me that my equipment has had completely differnt lives before they got to me.
