Re: Johnny Marr Sig Jaguar
Very cool to have this confirmed.
I had a chance to meet him a couple of years ago at a meet and greet when the MarrGuar was first released. He was friendly, humble, engaging, seemed well grounded and.... completely normal. I was a musical fan before that and became a fan of his after.

That’s so cool! Running into JM at the airport is a great way to start a journey!SaulBadman wrote: ↑Fri Jun 01, 2018 6:55 pmOK, so....Big Marr fan here...I've been following this thread, and did watch the video with the LPB guitar.
I thought the video was great, the guitar looks great as well. A nice master class with a master guitar player. Very cool.
After watching to the end though, not exactly convinced that this was not just going to be a one off that they made for him, but then...something happened...
Yep.
I was in NYC last night, and unfortunately had prior obligations and was unable to attend the Gramercy Theater (or, any show this run, unfortunately), and I had to get back across the country early today as well.
Then, in San Francisco, this happened:
YES! Very cool guy. Totally open to chatting with me as we walked toward our gates. Of course, I mentioned seeing the video and all the talk about the LPB, etc. I did ask him if Fender was going to do an LPB production run, and he confirmed it is indeed the case. Not sure when. Not exactly sure about the numbers either, but he mentioned thinking it was going to be an "initial run of about 300 guitars" - and that he'd been waiting for them to make him a LPB for awhile, then something about "that weird green color"
He asked me about my stuff as well. I told him I had a JMJM, and he said "I've got one of those." I'm guessing he was referring to the earlier American made sig model, but we didn't dwell on it. He talked up his Jag a lot. You can tell he really loves it, explaining to me about how "it's not like a regular Jag" and it's "better in some ways that the vintage ones"
Anyway, there you have it. Obviously, I'm stoked. He was very cool. I topped it off by scoring some tickets for the West Coast tour in September at Roseland.
Hope this helps in the decision making process.
Thanks for posting about the LBP. I have started looking for a white one, but I may have to keep waiting. Hope it doesn’t take forever for Fender to release the LPB. I guess maybe they are waiting for the last run of blacks to sell out first.

very cool story. I might have been a total squid if i'd run into him.
He should be excited about that guitar. As signature models go, I think it shows the most effort, and sems to be widely appreciated.

I've been to one World's Fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing i ever heard come out a pair of headphones.

Wow, he actually looks better in candidly taken fan photos. Some people were just born to be rock stars. Really glad to know he's as a cool as I imagine he'd be. I'm also gonna be mildly jealous every time I pass SFO from now on.

I put a mint guard on my black one, and I think it looks pretty cool. I'll post a pic of it when I get home today.YUNGDIRTDOGG wrote: ↑Tue May 29, 2018 3:09 pmI have been considering a mint guard for my black marrguar. The black on black IS a little boring, but the tort on black look seems very generic.

I had the black on black too and it was boring. Didn't want a tort guard either. Should've put a mint on it...

I’m genuinely curious if Fender ever asked Kevin Shields to make one. It seems like the most obvious choice after Sonic Youth and Costello and Mascis.
A fender version of the Bellindastang would be awesome too.

Re: Johnny Marr Sig Jaguar
The last thing I need is another guitar.
And I am 6'2 so why would I want a Jaguar?
I see the eventual release of the LPB version and am kicking myself I didn't get the Sherwood Green. I was thinking about buying a LPB to hopefully trade for a Sherwood Green then I saw the Silver Sparkle.
I love the Sherwood Green but I'd be happy with a Silver Sparkle. I am waiting for that one.

A silver sparkle version would be amazing, but I don't see any signature on the headstock, so I see no reason to believe Fender will be releasing a silver sparkle JM Jaguar. But if you think otherwise, please prove me wrong!

It's a silly myth that scale length should have any correlation with player size, unless you have a disability (e.g. I know someone with psoriatic arthritis who plays short scale acoustics for the reduced string tension). Do you know how many 6'+ guys you see playing the mandolin at bluegrass jams? And how many insane 5' tall bassists are out there?JM Convert wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 8:49 pmThe last thing I need is another guitar.

Buy the marrguar and have fun with it. It's a small adjustment if you're not used to 24" scale, but I hop between 16" scale ukuleles all the way up to 34" basses. It's not the end of the world.

Re: Johnny Marr Sig Jaguar
Johnny doesn't have signatures on his own guitars, IIRC. That doesn't mean there will be an official release, it could just be a one-off for the tour/video.
