CS Bass VI finally arrives...with crazy birdseye

Post by dinosaur » Fri Apr 13, 2007 2:07 pm

Well after an extremely annoying and lengthy delay, my CS Bass VI finally arrived today.  Everyone knows about them and has seen plenty of them I'm sure, but I just wanted to throw up a few pics, especially of the crazy birdseye.  I almost always hate birdseye, and was actually a little disappointed to see it so pronounced, but that lasted about 5 minutes and now I love it.

Also, like most people who have posted pics of these, I'm quite happy with the guard.  Should have been better, but could have been much, much worse.

VERY NICE!! :) Congratulations dinosaur, and may it serve you well!
I really like the sunburst that was used on your bass, and I wish Fender would also start to use it again on their 'standard' line...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! but you know what, i think the figure in the wood indicates more that it was quartersawn. i don't think it is birsdeye at all. Quartersawn is EXTRA special! :) One way or the other, you have a beauty there!!

Congratulations. It's very cool. Where's the birdseye? That picture of your peghead is some of the nicest quartersawn maple I've seen in a while. That figuring is often called "lace".

So how long ago did you order it, or is that a touchy subject?

Yeah I thought it was birdseye, but I know very little about these things.  Never knew about lace.  Thanks for letting me know.

Only in October, but I was told it was the next in line from the CS and would be here in two weeks, and then told the same thing pretty much every two weeks after that.  I think they were telling the truth, but what can you do.  It's here now and I love it.

I have a couple of necks with that "lace" It's really pretty. USA is making my BVI neck from it too.

Quarter sawn necks are the most stable, and... well, Antonio Stradivari used quarter sawn maple on his instruments, and they're reputed to be quite good.

Looks great, I bet it sounds nice, too.

Congrats!

Very cool, man!

BTW, did you get a different case than the others who bought a CS Bass VI?  The logo looks to be in a different spot on yours?

Thanks everyone.  One other note - not that it really matters - but I've measured and remeasured and remeasured, and I get exactly 30" for the scale.  Maybe I'm off, but I don't see how.

I think it's just the angle of the pic.  It looks the same to me, but I'll go look at some pics other people posted.
