This one must have been shot during the Banshees's "Hyaena tour", in Paris, 1984 (picture by Terrasson)

Modified between 1982 and 1983 under strong LSD abuse...
The tiny holes and threads on the peghead were supposed to hang (a) dead fish, hence the name chosen for this guitar... I don't know if it has ever been used in this purpose, but that is what Smith reported officially.

Definitely not jealous, but rather impressed... He did that on all his Jazzmasters from 1979 onwards...
That's part of his signature sound : string strokes behind the bridge are quite common in his playing style ("Other Voices", "Carnage Visors") but are simply inimitable. A regular buzz stop isn't enough.

Just out of curiosity - does anyone know how many Jazzmasters Smith actually had/used?
I always believed he had only 2 examples, but I'm not sure about this...

He is known to have owned 2 Jazzmasters.
Their color changed a lot : one of them was natural by 1980, then became Olympic white (same year). From 1982 onwards, Smith hanged around with black only ones...

Hope you don't really think I'm that ignorant? :(
I forgot the word "early".
Here: It even looks like a really
EARLY JM (I think I see a "Pat. Pend." trem).
That's why I mentionned the Pat.Pend. trem.
