bass six copy story

Post by AMILCAR » Tue Oct 03, 2006 6:01 pm

well ,i live in argentina , i found once a local copy of a six string ,and got it ,it wasn t in good shape but i got it fixed ,without really knowing that much about them ,just that robert smith used them  ,so i have it painted black ,and set up ...it played only ok ,the tension was always tricky ,but for some songs ,tunings and keys it worked ,to my surprise it recorded really well as a bass ,the alnico pickups are pretty diffuse sounding for some reason ,the neck is great really great ...
the thing is i havent played that much lately and since i was divorcing ,it was the only that i left in the garage at the old house ...AND MY EX WIFE SMASHED IT !!!!!!!!  >:(,yes against the carpet floor ...not much of a losss, but i still have feelings for her (the six string ) ,fortunately ,only the body is ruined so i will have a new one cloned ,and change a couple things i dont like ,like the jack location and the plastic control plates  ;)...click and enlarge the photosImage

:o :(

so you were right to divorce her then ;)

great looking guitar. maybe with a new body, it will even sound better. they usually didn´t use the best quality wood for those copies.

That's a horrible story  :o

I've never seen one of those here, that's amazing! With a new body I'm sure it will sound better

I think that's a huge understatement.

Anyway, definitely deserves to be rebuilt.

hey folks ,thanks for the support ,it wasn t that bad really ,but i really want to rebuild with a new body ....
recently i saw a litlle sister : a blonde jaguar copy with three pickups ! sadly ,it wasnt for sale ...i checck that window shop almost every day ...
the neck on the six is really good and strong ...and the celluloid pickguard tend to warp a bit ,just like the originals ...
good luck it wasnt the OTHERS guitars :tha jaguar ,mustang ,an ibanez talman or even the strat ...
of course i post pictures when i get it done ...
coronado ,get intouch with me  ...
