Played a Jag bass last night

Post by thewizardofaz » Sat Mar 17, 2007 7:07 am

The local GC had one in red. It really as a gorgeous guitar, the best looker in the bass room there. I was very suprised to see the thin, guitar sized frets. Is this about the size of a bass six or no?

The Jaguar Bass is not close to the size of a Bass VI.  I've got both.  The Jaguar Bass is closest in size to a Jazz Bass (34" scale), and the Bass VI is more like a guitar with a longer neck (30" scale).  Both great instruments, but for different uses in my opinion.

I will say that that is the one "new" Fender that intrigues me.

I'm more likely to pick up an AVRI JM (or if I found one, a Bass VI), but the fact that touring pros are using them is inspiring.  Pino Palladino is playing 'em on tour with the WHO right now.  Impressive - just wish they had more color options.

Do you mean the actual Jag Bass or the Jag Baritone Custom thing? Because the Jag Baritone could be similar to a Bass Vi?

The Jag bass is kind of cool, I wouldn't buy one, though. Rick Burch of Jimmy Eat World has a Jag bass also.
