The Boss and The Offset.

Post by StevenO » Thu Mar 15, 2007 7:20 pm

I got this from some Spanish Bruce Springsteen site that said he was playing a Fender Jazzmaster here, circa 74(or something like that).
I wonder what it could be.

It looks like a XII to me. Check out the knobs and the shape of the end of the control plate. Also, it has a large knob where the tone selector is (not an original knob). PLus the pickguard shape and you can see the screws around the pickups which secure the guard. You can also see the octave strings. Plus his hand is over the bridge and the strings definitely stop there, ie no Jazzmaster tail piece  :)

Very observant.  I think you are correct.
IV, V, VI, XII...

That's what I was thinking. When I first made this thread, I thought the guitar had binding and I got excited.

Looks like an XII to me. I can't see the octave strings, but they're probably there.
Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

Might be a Custom/Maverick 6 stringer.

Whatever it is, it's been molested.

no, it´s not a custom/maverick. it has the full XII/jazzmaster body shape, and there´s no mustang trem unit.

it´s just a regular XII that has been stripped.

I think that if you look closely at the strings, especially low E you can see that they are wider than normally should be. This could be because of the Octave strings
