60's Framus 5/355

Post by daydreamdelay » Sat Mar 10, 2007 3:41 pm

I just bought this cool looking offset from tremolite and it arrived today.. as usual the first thing I wanted to do was rip it apart and take a good look at it and of course get a few pics. the weather today and my camera are shit so the pics aren't great, no decent close ups sadly but aside from the neck plate having made in west germany stamped on it and the back of the headstock being stamped with a serial number you're not missing anything. It's going to need a new nut, maybe some fret work, and either I find a roller saddle like this (not likley) or a new roller bridge, and it should be a great player.. I assume these are humbuckers, the cover doesn't come off but based on the top and bottom it definitely looks like one over the P90's I've read some have.

so anyway if anyone knows anything about these I'd love to hear more about them.. it should be a great guitar with a little work..

link isn't working but I know the one you're referring to.. it looks pretty cool

do you think a set of Kluson style tuners would fit well on this?  tremolite mentioned these being a bit wonky

Cool guitar - congrats!

Here's again Orang Goreng's scan of The Telescopes' 'Trade Mark Of Quality'-CD which he kindly posted here last November, and as you can see Joanne Doran is playing the same model :

It's impossible to tell from this black & white pic what colour her Framus has, but there was a refinished Burgundy Mist Framus offered on eBay Germany last year (and I posted pics of that particular guitar here), so you're possibly thinking of that one...

that's gotta be it.. I probably mixed them up and thought they were the same guitar

do you still have pics from the other one?
