Does it have a good Setup? Have you adjusted the Pickups or have someone adjust them? I'd start there first. Then go on on with Caps, Pickups etc...

It’s hilarious how the OP just ignored the two dudes touting the affordable and most reasonable advice of changing the Pots and caps instead of spending hundreds on pickups. Oh well!

Tbh I may just be unrefined but given the variability of pots, caps, and pickup height I'm generally hard pressed to tell the difference between different but equivalent sets of pickups.

Just going to update my post with all that I've done to my AVRI to get it to a point where I love it.
First off. The only thing original to it is the body. Everything else has been changed. Here are the changes:
Musikraft Neck 9.5 Radius, bigger frets
250 k pots (the tone is a no-load tone pot)
Anodized gold guard (helped with noise, from what I believe)
Pickup Wizard CBS Pickups
StayTrem bridge
No Rhythm Circuit (didn't change anything, sound wise, from what I understand)
Now, that's an expensive route to take... But it was super worth it for me as I wound up with a legitimately beautiful sounding and playing guitar. I have to say, I was not impressed with Fender's quality with my AVRI. Even still, the body I kept is a lot heavier than I'd like for my Jazzmaster, but I think it might also add to the thick sound of the guitar currently and since it doesn't hurt to play, it's staying.

My answer to getting a better sound from my AVRI was to sell it and buy an American Original JM...and it worked! Best sounding JM I’ve ever own. I have 0 complaints.

I mean, it breaks my heart, but it's worth it.
It seems that you wanted an American Professional Jazzmaster?

Nah, mines way better than those. Fender might offer the specs but they don't offer the quality.

I did the same thing!! So happy with my American Original. I did swap out the Trem and bridge for Staytrem. Considering swapping out the pots for 500k’s to slightly cut the treble . Other than that I am very pleased! Best neck of the recent JM’s in my opinion.daysleeperjeff wrote: ↑Tue Jul 17, 2018 4:39 amMy answer to getting a better sound from my AVRI was to sell it and buy an American Original JM...and it worked! I got a good deal on an used AO (i own way too many Jazzmaster type guitars right now..) After changing the pickups with duncans it really sounds awesome. The 65 pickups were way too shrill for me.

Ah, yeah, I know the syllable count of a haiku which is why I wrote that.

Generally, a Haiku in English doesn't have to follow the syllable count - it doesn't transfer exactly from the Japanese form.
It's the subject matter and way of writing that makes it a Haiku. /end off topic tangent
