I know it's not an offset, and I know it's about the most obnoxiously ugly guitar you ever did see, but I really miss...

Man, that was the best playing guitar ever.

You're not alone DB. My dad sold his '66 JB for $150
I sold a '65 Mosrite Ventures (disassembled) for $150 in 1983. Two years before that, I stripped off the original sunburst and painted it blue.

I got it in an even trade for a cheesy Domino beatle-bass in 1979. It was all original, right down to the case....    :(

True, I was running an online store. But with a few exceptions, those hanging were "my keepers". The others were in cases in the storage area.

In addition to the "keepers" shown in the pics, I also had a 70s MIJ collection of Lawsuit stuff. There were some great ones in there too....

But really, if I were to list the ones I truly wished I had kept.... it would come down to a small handful:

- Fiesta Red '97 California Strat - A surprise birthday gift (brand new) from my wife and kids. I coldly sold it four years later (still had plastic, tags and receipt) during a bout of depression. I felt like I sucked so bad as a player and decided to just get rid of everything.  She said she was OK with me selling it, but I still feel bad about it. Most of the others in the pics were sold at this time too. I brought 17 guitars to Florida and later sold them to make improvements on our house.

- '78 Hardtail Strat in natural. It was ash, light, all original, and sounded great.

- '63 Jaguar from my build article

- Many '62 - '66 Jazzmasters over the years. How I wish I had kept at least one or two of them.

- '65 Electric XII

The rest of them were very cool.... but I can live without them.

;D Ouch. Only 3 short years later I was 'routing' an '83 Sienna sunburst maple necked std. Strat for a humbucker with a hammer and a chisel. It came out pretty good but I'll never forget the look on the guy's face I sold it to when he took the pickguard off. "Did you do this with a f'n chisel dude?  ???". Yes. Yes I did.  :-[

That's a nice wall BTW!

Here's another one, and while I miss having it, I don't regret giving it away.

Image

I "inherited" it after my good friend and bandmate died. His little sister (no shabby player herself) probably couldn't stand the sight of it.
But a few years later, she asked how it was doing, "was I treating it right?". So I gave it back.

And I kind of hate admitting that I really, really didn't want to.

So an Oly White '64 Jag is really, REALLY high on my list.

BTW, sorry the pics stink. These were taken something like 5 years ago with a camera that you actually had to shove a floppy disc into.

Your pics aren't showing up. When I quoted you I noticed that you have a link there, but the link is blocked/something. There is just a space there where the pic should be on both your posts on this page.

Yeah, I also checked the text and pasted it into another browser tab as some sites block hotlinking, but I can't make those links lead anywhere. Are they to your private account that needs a password?

I really need to find somewhere else to host them, but it's hard to actually get your pictures back, and that computer was gone long ago.

Sorry guys.

Don't ask me for details on how I put the Gibson violin body humbucker in the neck position on my Jazz.  I'm pretty sure it wasn't much more elegant than the chisel method.

Ha. This is starting to remind me of the 'punk rock confessional' that Simple Machines (R.I.P.)  had for the Working Holiday Weekend in '94. And no, I wasn't there.  :'(

I did that to an SG copy. I put some Japanese Soapbars in it. It actually sounded really really great. Years later sold it to a friend, I wish I hadn't but it went to a good home.
