24 fret HH offsets?

Post by themachineisgod » Sat Oct 03, 2009 11:58 pm

I've searched long and far, but have been unable to find anything like it.

I'm looking for something with:

Jaguar/Jazzmaster body (any offset style will do other than Flying V-type stuff)
Bolt on 24 fret neck with a radius greater than or equal to 10".
Dual Humbucker Configuration
No pickguard.
Hardtail bridge. (Trem is fine, but no floyd rose-like systems)
Preferably, a simpler pickup system than the standard Fender versions of the Jag and Jazz.

Has anybody ever seen anything like this before?

:o

That guitar is pretty sweet. I guess custom built is the way to go. Why does every "modern" guitar have to be a Strat-style body with really pointy edges?

:unsure:

Actually, there is a guitar called the charvel surfcaster ;)

It has lipsticks but you put some hotrails or lil' killers in there

There's a few with 24 frets, but not with all the features you are looking for:

1. The ESP in this thread: http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... =6&t=28509" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
2. Whatever guitar the Japanese guitarist in this thread is playing: http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/vie ... rge+benson" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
3. Fender Performer
4. Dean Bel-Air, which they supposedly also offered hard-tail and there was a version without a pickguard and 24 frets.
5. Much more extreme and perhaps not as comfortable (I don't know, haven't played one), a Guild X-79.
6. Obvious Surfcasters which were mentioned, there were several version, some solid even, maybe not all with 24 frets and most with 24 frets on only 3 strings.
There's probably others

Not 24 frets, but here's a 1980s Czech Jolana Proxima I:

You could make your own though, Eden has a bunch of cheap 24 fret necks, and Allparts offers a body with no routs which fits those necks. You need a router and pickup/control cavity templates. Most other 24 fret necks are wider than normal Fender pocket size though.

Wow. I was googling forever and couldn't find that stuff. You sir are a true offset lover. Thanks a lot for all the suggestions. I think I'm going to look into a custom build unless I can find one that satisfies all the features I want. Anybody with a custom built offset is welcome to post for potentials ideas.

Thanks a lot for the replies.

This one too, but they're expensive:

Other than the hideous headstock and a few other minor details, those things are pretty amazing. Too bad they are a few thousand out of my price range. GFS or Rondo needs to make some budget copies pronto.
