Have you ever adjusted a truss rod before?
You don't just keep turning the allen key until it goes straight.

its weird because i adjusted the saddles for intonation and the bridge is set up, but the neck wont move. i moved it a quarter counterclockwise to add some relief and nothing. nothing seems to be working. i went the other way with no discernible difference.

maybe im not doing something right?

well that´s squier for ya. i have the same problem with my standard series telecaster.

maybe you need to remove the rod and lubricate it..?

My '51 needs a fair bit of tweaking to get it to move, but beware of going too far

well, that´s usually a sign of the neck having a bit too much relief. i really can´t give any clear advice on this.
i´ve had lots of problems with my squier tele. no matter how much i´ve tightened the truss rod the neck has always went back to the same over-curved state after a few days, and now there´s no more travel left on the rod, so i can´t use the guitar with  my preferred straing gauge.

although it might have something to do with the fact that i smashed the guitar once, and then put it back together... :-[

Truss rod adjustment.
http://www.athensmusician.net/archive/2 ... ody1.shtml
Before you adjust the nut, make a mark on it that corresponds to a fixed point below it on the access channel to the nut. This will help you gauge how much you have turned and may help you get back to "0" if for some reason you get too far off.
The first movement of an unfamiliar rod is always to loosen (counter-clockwise). This accomplishes two things: it gives you an idea of how tight the rod is already and tells you how smoothly it moves. If the rod seems sticky, back it out for removal while counting the turns. Clean it, oil it, and then return it to the original position. Q-tips and WD-40 or 3-in-1 oil are good for this.
Fret leveling....

no, it would make no difference to the curvature of the neck so i don´t think it would solve anything. i think your best bet is to try to clean and oil the rod (using the method posted by pullover).

Also, when adjusting the rod, I like to loosen it a few turns then gently manipulate it in the direction you are wanting, then retighten the nut. That way you can see the changes you've made more rapidly. Otherwise it sometimes takes a few days or more for the neck to show the full effects of the adjustment. Dan Erlewine's guitar repair book is an awesome reference for this sort of thing. I highly recommend it!

I like to loosen the nut all the way, put the guitar in a vise, and then wail on the neck with a 10 lb sledge in the direction I want it to go. Then I apply max gorilla torque to the truss nut until the anchor breaks loose, then back it off a quarter turn....

PERFECT!
