Do you oil your fretboards?

all tof the listed items work will but the best thing I've found was in a little hometown music store that no longer exists. They had a product called 'Roche's Fingerboard Oil', and it seems to be inert oil. no scent or anything. I don't know if it's still available, this store had stuff in the basement from the 30's, but I'll be sad when my bottle's dry up.

If you have a particularily gunky board, cover your pickups in masking tape and use fine steel wool. These works great gets all the surface shit off and does a great job polishing the frets. Then hit it with a generous dose of conditioner and wait about ten minutes. Wipe it off and wait another ten and keep doing this untill no more oil beads on the board. It will feel incredable.

...he gives many reasons why we shouldn't use many of the common oil methods.  They may or may not be true, but I just bought it to use on my fretboards to darken them up - it does a really good job at that.
