New Jag day here too! '65 crackwhore JAGUAP w/PICS!
...wow it's been raining Jags today, eh!?
well it was a good day today. got home from the job and i met the mailman outside of my door with THREE packages for me:
- a pair of used AVRI Jaguar pups for my '62 project from Loomer (i've heard the CIJs aren't that good...)
- a vintage Jaguar Mute from FenderBob (with new/replacement foam!)
- an old pickguard for my Univox Les Paul Jr. from a friend (off the plexi palace forum - she looks MUCH better now! pics tomorrow!)
so far, so good.
when i got inside i see a big home-made coffin-ish case standing there.
it's here. oh yeah.
ok so i decided to go for the "dirty bathmouthed crackwhore" jag first. i'm still in the deals to recovering my old '66 D&B jag, but this one was about to be sold and man i would've regret it.
she looks MUCH better/badder in real life. the color is some sort of green-blue, really cool but hard to caption in a pic.
she's quite beat yes. but man i LOVE the look of this guitar... it's TEH ROCKER!!!
neck stamp is 1 JAN 65B
all pots are original late 1964 (50th week)
the neck pickup seems to be a rather cheap minihumbucker, but it doesn't sound too good.
the saddles seem to be off an univox or something like that, and put the action WAY too high, so i took the bridge off the '62 jag (not functioning now anyway) and it fits like a glove.
the pickguard is bent quite a bit, but it's nice tort.
the neck has been covered in a thin layer of transparent laquer (which has aged VERY nicely to an ambar color) - including the fretboard! so i spent part of the evening scratching that off the fretboard, and afterwards gave it a nice "re-hydration" with red almond oil. MAN this neck was thirsty!!!
the top 3-4 frets will need to be replaced someday soon.
sounds like an aweful lot to do to it but it's NOT a big project thing. it's playable AS IS and i love it. but i'll give it to my friend this weekend to give it a nice pro setup etc.
i might eventually replace the minihumbucker for an original jag pickup, but then i'd need a new old pickguard as well... another $300-500 to put into it. maybe someday.
oh well... but i'm VERY pleased.
so is she...
chillin' next to her older sis!
expect some good pics tomorrow!

You're on a jaguar binge!
I wish to propose a doctrine which may, I fear, appear wildly paradoxical and subversive. The doctrine in question is this: that it is undesirable to believe a proposition when there is no ground whatever for supposing it true. - Bertrand Russell

Okay, so did anyone here not get a new Jag this week?

heh... thanks guys!
actually, the "1" stands for Jaguar, it's NOT a date. 5 is jazz bass i think... etc. the info's out there.
guys i feel there's a BIG difference in weight between the '62 and the '65! did they use different body woods or something?

nice!
maybe instead of calling it a "dirty bathmouthed crackwhore jag", you could just say "seasoned cougar"
