I know what you are saying but it seem like the fender custom shop charges a premium price and it takes really long to get a guitar (from what I've heard). I just wish there was a way to get some custom features without actually going through the custom shop.dinosaur wrote:
Well that's what the custom shop does. I wish they could do what you say and keep the price at production run levels, but that would hardly make sense for them.

there is, build a spare parts guitar if you do alot of the work yourself you can keep the price down

It's not about the gear! It's about you, your hands, your imagination, your feelings.

Re: MIJ Teal Green Jazzmaster with Bound Neck - Reissue.
Sorry to dig up a bit of an older post (I guess it is only a few days old) but if my aging memory serves me correctly Fender Japan did a run of replica (sort of) Cobain jaguars with the modified switch, humbuckers, T-O-M bridge and a bound and dot neck. It wasn't an offical Cobain model but something that FJ did to fill a market need (something they are so good at). I am guessing (my opinion only) that this would be around the same time. I will try and dig a pic of the Cobain version to give you an idea.
Anyone else remember those models?

The jags ain't cheap at all! Which isn't surprising, they're pretty modified. The Stangs look like a decent deal though.
Times change. Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky? Now it grows hair! We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

Well those certainly look vintage. Are you sure they are reissues? Either way, I love em.
