So hot, but I'm scared of the U neck... :bored:
U neck on my mij mustang was not a whole lot different from C neck on my other mij mustang… in case that’s any help

Also, they’re beautiful. I could only dream of l/h version. Assuming AVRI would be €800 more or thereabouts (if it ever arrives)… worth it for less cool colour, case, & nitro?
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Hmm... might give it a shot, maybe?
I absolutely HATED the U shaped neck on the 40th anniversary Squier JMs

I’ve never had a bad neck on a Japanese Fender. You wouldn’t lose money if you sold it on anyway, I reckon.

I’m imagining you get the box home and open it, the case opens and the CW spits over your shoulder, immediately the pick guard turns the colour of infected blood, the blue darkens up and chips, the block markers pop off and the neck pickup bursts to become a humbucker.

Thought so. If Fender JPN shot these in nitro they'd slay the US ones

I don't mind poly but given the choice I'd like it nitro. But I'm determined not to get sucked-in again and buy any more of what I already have. The new rule, for me, is no repeats.

Good luck with that. That's exactly what I said when my Jaguars started breeding and I was forced to cull the herd.

That was three Flying Vs ago :fp:

One of everything would be my ideal collection. That is, if I were actually capable of keeping hold of a guitar that isn’t flavour of the month.

I'm doing okay now. The last few years have been dicey...at various stages there was 3x 60's Jags, 3x Jazzmasters (sometimes 4) and at one point three vintage Mustangs. Now its 1x JM, 1x Tele, 1x Ric, 1x Bass, 1x Acoustic and soon to be 1x Greco LP - all very different sounding and individual guitars.

But the lust is heavy for a Jaguar again, even though I know I shouldn't

What are the pickups and pots etc like? So gorgeous!!!

Edit: CTS, cool. I wonder how similar the pickups are to PV65s

I am trying to decide which one to buy: this one (Fender MIJ Trad Late 60s Jag) or the Vintera Jaguar?

Can anybody give me a quick tip which one is preferable?

I’d say MIJ all day. IMO The quality is on par with current US fender stuff. Most of the internals are USA made, too.

As someone who owned both (basically sold the Vintera to fund this beauty) - I have to say the MIJ! The neck feels so „at home“! Pickguard is also a perfect match for me (while I had to exchange the Tortoise on the Vintera to Mint (or Black) to have it to my liking)
They also have the „regular“ traditional models (e.g. Lake Placid Blue) without the Blocks… I can‘t remember if they were with or without binding. There was a leak of something else from Japan in Sherwood Green (was it a JM or a Jag?)

The Vintera is great too. No question. Ocean Turquoise is an amazing colour! …but the lack of binding, the screw in trem (also the sometimes even reddish Pau Ferro if that matters to you - fretboard feels great otherwise) and the fact that I wasn’t really bonding, not even after one and a half years (while haven’t done anything irreversible to it - so it kept it’s value) made me give it up rather easily. A plus on the Vintera would be the already drilled hole for the Mute. Neck felt a bit more chunky.
The Bridge Pickups are a little microphonic on either model.
Both profit from bigger strings (beware of the F tuner‘s small machine holes) and maybe a Staytrem - but I didn‘t have to do much on either.

Any (more) specific questions?

Thank you for your detailed response, @MayTheFuzzBeWithYou !

I have a few further questions:

- how does the weight compare between the 2 guitars?
- did you perceive any tonal differences?
- I understand that you found the neck profile more comfortable on the MIJ one. I have smaller hands so the neck size matters to me.
- I don't like to do any changes on the guitars (when really not needed). One of the reasons I want to buy a Jaguar (my first offset as well!) is for the tremolo bar. Is this working well on both guitars or will I need to invest in a new piece? If so, what is the most recommended purchase?
- the only thing I am not crazy on the Japanese model are the fretboard block inlays. Do you find them cool? Which color have you bought? :)

Thank you.
