Well, those block inlays are no-go for me, no matter how much I try to like them. I already ordered one of these MIJ jags, but had to cancel it since it just didn't feel like something I want to own. Feels like everything fender has published within a year has block inlays. And with Vintera II jaguars, yet more to come. I Probably should crab one of those Vintera ones while them last. And just darken the fret board if it looks wonky. But I accidentally bought a really nice Tele meanwhile I was browsing for alternatives :D There is not an infinite budget.. We will see.

Here is an update: 7 1/2 months in my possession..

My guitar tech was so kind to squeeze me in and file the nut slots and drill the string holes on the E and A tuner a little bigger - it plays pretty nice now.

I played it live before (with the thinner strings) and it squealed weirdly when playing a solo - and did that again at the last rehearsal - so I exchanged the pickups for the PV65 I recently purchased here on the board (thanks Michel).

And to my surprise: the stock pickups were just not wax potted at all (so that might be the reason for the squealing) I might do that and put them in another Jag build as they didn‘t sound bad at all.

Would absolutely buy that guitar again. A really great and well built instrument! The AVRI fitting makes pickup swaps enormously easier. It does also look very good with black (kind of a 60s/90s Batman animated series look) - and surprisingly good with the Reptile Tortoise Guard.

But for now I got back to parchment as this really was THE LOOK I feel in love with.

Sounds like a keeper! Such a stunning looking guitar with the parchment guard. That’s the way I would go too. Glad to hear many months later you’re still loving it. 8)

Thank you! Yes, it definitely is. I played (half a) show with it on Saturday (the other half with the Thinline as it has the nicer overtones behind the bridge that I need for one song's intro/interlude) - the PV65s suit it very well. No more squealing. :w00t:

The nuts on these, have very sharp corners, unlike any other Japanese Fenders.

Took it to a photoshoot today.

Still soooo beautiful! Best decision to flip the Vintera and buy this!
