...replacement neck for a Toronado?
Last week I picked up an original issue Toronado for a good price, but when I tried to set it up I noticed that the truss rod is completely worn out and not moveable any more... bummer.
Now, what can I do?
The Toro has a unique scale for Fenders, right? So, if I was to get a replacement neck, which one would/could fit?
Thanks!
Pat.

It looks like it's just stripped. I feel like that has to be solvable by someone with the right skill set without replacing the whole neck, but I'm not that guy and therefore couldn't tell you the fix.

It's not unique; the Cyclone and Katana also have a 24 3/4 scale neck. Although I have no idea if they're interchangeable or not.

I don't mean to condescend, so don't take it as such, but have you tried the right allen key? I know that a lot of different truss rods have different sized keyholes and the difference between metric and imperial can be ever so slight, that it won't work right but looks as if it should.
I fear a repair would be hard. I believe these come with modern trussrods, and those don't have the interchangeable nut a vintage one would have. So taking it off with a 'grabber' bit is probably not happening.
I wonder if the Toronado neck is a conversion neck.. then any neck should fit. If you can compare the neck pocket to bridge distance with a strat, maybe you can find out.
Stew-mac does sell a tool for this by the way, they call it the "Gripper truss rod wrench". It's a tapered wrench so it puts pressure on the rounded edges to help it grip when you turn it. Worth a try for around 12 bucks.

Yeah I tried my US set and bought an European/metric one too but nope.
The stew mac thing looks interesting... now the question would be which one/size to get?
Any other Toro owners here please help?

I owned a Toronado for a long time. Don’t know whether it helps, but think of as Fender’s version of an SG or some other Gibson-scaled guitar. So whatever scale Gibsons are, that’s what the neck is on that instrument. Now, if anyone makes a neck that would fit, that I don’t know.

Yeah I know these and the Cyclone used the Gibson scale. But j was wondering if someone here knew of a good replacement neck.

Warmoth will do a strat style 24.75'' conversion neck if you end up needing a new one.

That would be a conversion neck it will not work on an instrument that is already 24.75”adamrobertt wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 6:51 amWarmoth will do a strat style 24.75'' conversion neck if you end up needing a new one.

i was going to say i thought these used the short scale conversion neck and i could have offered up mine (needs a bit of work though) honestly, i think this might be another case of whoever repaired your 70's jm neck to give them a call.
