Parallel Universe II Jazz Strat

Post by alexpigment » Fri Mar 27, 2020 9:02 am

I realize I might get called out by the "not an offset" police for this one, but I just saw this guitar in a new Sweetwater promotional email:

This is the first I've seen/heard of this model. It doesn't really do much for me since one of the greatest parts of a Jazzmaster is the body shape, but maybe it might float someone else's boat.

When I first saw that pickguard, I totally thought they ripped off Decoboom. But then when it went up on the Fender site, it says it's actually made by Decoboom.
All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

Good for decoboom, getting onto an official model.

There was an OSGer who made one of these, a strat with JM pickups, but his was cooler. Had a rhythm circuit and everything.

I guess you didn't see this in the NAMM thread 2 months ago:

This is visually stunning:

(please Fender, more guitars in this colour!)
But who'd remember that anyway, when 2 posts later Leokula derailed the thread with the camo jacket :D

And my opinion hasn't changed, I want a normal Strat in that colour. (no nitro though)

Those knobs! Wish Fender would sell them on their own, or at least use it in future guitars.

i found a few of those knobs at an electronics surplus place.
never figured out from what device or who made them.
i wonder if they are still being made, or if Fender is making their own version?

I really like this, mainly because it proves that both a lower horn toggle and a JM tremolo can work on that body shape.
(I know, the Jag+Strat mashup from the previous series had that trem as well but the wonky pickguard made it hard to appreciate)

Still, I would prefer different pickups and the output jack on top in the traditional Strat oval thingy just for a bit more chrome.
And that tone knob overlapping the pinstripe on the pickguard is triggering my OCD really bad...

Still, some really cool ideas. And that color!
