Peter Hook signature bass
Looks like Peter Hook is getting his own signature bass. Eastwood is cloning his Shergold 6. Looks interesting, but wonder how it sounds. I’ve never heard a Shergold outside of Hooky, and all that chorus he slathers on his sound sort of obscures fundamental tone. Here’s the link: https://eastwoodcustoms.com/projects/pe ... signature/

Looks pretty cool. Not something I’d likely buy, but one of the more interesting Eastwood offerings I’ve seen in a while.

Re: Peter Hook signature bass
I wrote to Eastwood asking them to do one a year or more ago. Glad somethings happening.
I’ve owned 3 Shergold bass 6 guitars. The first I ordered direct from Shergold when the original company was still open around ‘85 - effectively a one man operation by then. I remember talking on the phone to Jack Golder and he was a bit hard work as his hearing wasn’t great and I probably wasn’t the best communicator when I was 17.

But the price ... there is very little to those basses. I don’t understand how there can be such a hike in premium unless MR HOOK gets a big cut in royalties.

Re: Peter Hook signature bass
Wider string spacing than a Bass VI would be nice.

They are very nice to play - the spacing feels similar to a classical guitar.
I notice the Eastwood body is alder, pretty sure the originals were made from obeche which is quite lightweight so they suffer from terrible neckdive. That might help. Looks like they did a good job of copying the giant humbucker.

Re: Peter Hook signature bass
he's one of my all time favorite bassists, but i still think i'd rather have a bass six into some nice modulation.
btw he's killing it live these days - the third set he did when i saw him about a month ago was all bangers, and it was easily the most ecstatic any live music has made me feel in a long time.
