Carved Top JM HH
I know this is kind of a weird guitar and probably not well liked here but damn this thing plays great and the neck is fantastic looking and feeling!

Did not realize these existed. The neck actually looks really artfully made, awesome wood. Everyone needs one HH/Les Paul style guitar, wouldn't have any complaints if mine was that.
King Buzzo: I love when people come up to me and say “Your guitar sound was better on Stoner Witch, when you used a Les Paul. “...I used a Fender Mustang reissue on that, dumbass!

These used to pop up a lot more just a few years ago. There was also a dark brownish burst/flame top that looked really cool. Jazzmaster Select or something like that maybe? I like HH offsets, but they were too expensive at the time for me to seriously consider getting one. They break a lot of rules for the traditionalists. That's probably why I like them.

These look great, love the wood "faux" binding and the Fender logo pickups!

Re: Carved Top JM HH
I think he meant "faux" as in not actually being binding. Binding is a strip of material laid down in a channel routed along the edge of the fretboard. This is a "channel-bound" neck where the neck is actuallly a solid piece of maple that has a rectangular rout made in it, with the fretboard inlaid into that rout. So the "binding" effect is just the solid maple that is continuous with the rest of the neck.
It's actually more work than regular binding and looks/feels awesome, but it's not technically binding.

Had I seen this ten or fifteen years ago, I'd have snubbed my nose at the design, but I've since grown to appreciate Gibsons and Fenders with Gibson appointments, so yea..
This thing is gorgeous!
Good score!!!

I never liked these when they first came out. They were selling pretty cheap a year or 2 ago. I think eventually they’ll be highly regarded. They’re growing on me after some time

Thanks for the clarification and yes channel bound is the correct term here. Amazing woodwork on the neck though!

I would find myself needing to fix that missing first fret block inlay - but otherwise I kind of like them!
Coming from Les Pauls myself I can appreciate the simplicity of the double Humbucker-setup but would probably add a Duesenberg Les Trem or something alike to it!
Great find! Congrats!

Very nice - you could go totally coolness with it and go with a gold Floyd Rose FRX tremolo and locking nut.

I think the aluminum really works on this guitar. Are these bodies chambered? Does it have any neck dive with the metal neck?

Re: Carved Top JM HH
Feels lightly chambered but I’m not sure.
It’s really well balanced definitely heavier than the wood neck. This neck needs a heavy body like this I had it on a few guitars that had too much neck dive. This neck musically plays well and takes this guitar to a whole new level with sharper attack and longer sustain.
