That guitar is awful.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

So, a passive Jim Root Jazzmaster? Not for me.

As a side note, I hate when they leave the mounting tabs of humbuckers exposed. P90s look fine without rings or a pickguard. Humbuckers don't, IMO.

I'm also tired of their idea of "modern" being TOMs and PAFs. Those are literally 1950's designs, and way cooler and more modern stuff has come out since. And yes, tired of every variation of the JM being "but this time we borrowed THESE 4 Gibson parts!"
This, all of this, it's totally true and I cosign it with all my fingers and pens.
This is an excellent rectangle

Also, the Aerodyne series were basswood (I know, my Jazz bass weighs a feather, and has dents all over it). This is different enough to warrant a new name.

Japan historically loves its basswood. Having said that, I have 3 made in China Jazzmasters made of basswood and they aren't as Ikea-like as the Japanese basswood guitars I've owned. No dents so far. Maybe it's just the thick poly coat though...

Dear Fender:

Stop trying to sell me Jazzmasters without Jazzmaster pickups and trems.

Thanks,

Me.

P.S.--seriously, cut it the fuck out.

The question is: can a Jazzmaster be modern? If so, it certainly won't be by turning it into a Gibson model from 1957...

Looks pretty cool.
I prefer Gibson style bridges and stoptails, so this is perfect.
It's a bit pricey though.

Kinda reminds me of this scorpion telecaster I used to have (which I believe may have been part of the Showmaster series):

I'd honestly take Jazzmaster-shaped anything because I hate Les Pauls, and vintage-spec or vintage-adjacent Jazzmaster models are already there for people to choose from. Pricing's a bit steep for me, and I do wish they did this like a Jazzmaster equivalent to the black Jaguar Special HH. I'd like a pickguard, but even then I don't rly hate this thing.

I hate to say it, but I’m more likely to actually play a guitar with a pickguard; I dislike the idea of wearing down the finish as I play, vs. a replaceable pickguard. It’s neurosis but I prefer pickguard-less on a lot of things appearance-wise.
