Exactly what I’m thinking!
But yeah - big fan of the thinline. I love hollowbodies and implementing some of those qualities into a JM is pretty nice. Def worth it. Good luck!

Don't know if Dan (user Deed_Poll on here) is offering to do another build - you'd have to ask him
I ordered this one as custom build :

I love love love it. Gorgeous, and belated congratulations. How is it working out for you, sound, playability? How much does it weigh?NICQ wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2019 5:11 amDon't know if Dan (user Deed_Poll on here) is offering to do another build - you'd have to ask him

I could never get the pickups dialed, the neck was full of flat spots and sticky as hell, the Mastery trem's arm tension wouldn't stay in adjustment, the pots last 20% of arc were on/off, and it refused to stay in tune.RocknRollShakeUp wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2019 10:50 pmWell it could happen to the best of ‘em. Dang! Did you ever take it to a tech to help you sort it out? But yeah sounds like maybe you got a dud!Maggieo wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2019 1:25 pmI could never get the pickups dialed, the neck was full of flat spots and sticky as hell, the Mastery trem's arm tension wouldn't stay in adjustment, the pots last 20% of arc were on/off, and it refused to stay in tune.RocknRollShakeUp wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2019 10:50 pmWell it could happen to the best of ‘em. I really like the idea of an thin line offset, but I think that having an f-hole on the top of the guitar looks a little off. Has anyone ever designed a guitar with the f-hole on the bottom? I know this would change how controls are setup and the pickguard, but I think it would be more aesthetically pleasing.

I have a Reissue Fender '69 Thinline Tele in Aged Olympic White... It's a beautiful Guitar, weighs 5.5 lbs. But for some reason I haven't bonded with it as much as I thought I would?RocknRollShakeUp wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2019 10:58 pmNicely described.alexpigment wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2019 1:35 pmI don't know how much experience you've had with thinlines, but one of my main guitars is a thinline tele. The tone always seemed more balanced (more midrange, less icepick) compared to the exact same pickups in a solid body tele, and also it just sounds a lot more lively. I should note that I play 90% of the time at volumes where you can still hear a little bit of the acoustic sound (you can still hear it even with a somewhat cranked amp). It's possible that the liveliness is just a mixture of the electric and acoustic sounds reaching your ear. Either way, that's the effect and it really just makes me want to play the guitar more. I'd almost always lean toward a thinline guitar unless it led to other issues like neck dive, or just being too light to bend notes easily. As for the visual appeal of thinlines, I don't feel strongly one way or the other.
I too really like the OP's explanation & perspective. Particularly about blending the Acoustic & Electric sound... I have to give that a try..

Yeah, my tech and I did everything we could think of, but when we fixed one problem, another cropped up. And to think, I traded away my Swart AST.RocknRollShakeUp wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2019 5:49 pmDang! Did you ever take it to a tech to help you sort it out? Man I hate it when one gets unlucky and gets a basket case guitar. Sorry to hear about you losing your Swart.Maggieo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 7:02 amYeah, my tech and I did everything we could think of, but when we fixed one problem, another cropped up. Does that 5.5lb Tele Thinline neck dive on you?

Standing with Guitar strap it hangs slightly angled up at about 10:00... If I raise it to about 11:00 it wants to readjust to the 10:00 position. Which is where I like it anyhow..RocknRollShakeUp wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 8:28 pmHe isn’t the OP but am sure glad he chimed in.Larsongs wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 5:37 amI have a Reissue Fender '69 Thinline Tele in Aged Olympic White... I played it unplugged for a while tonight & compared it's Acoustic sound to my other Hollow & Semi Hollow Electric Guitars. Gretsch G5120, Ric 360 6 string, Ric 360 12 string & Epiphone Casino. The Thinline has the least Acoustic volume of them all. The Gretsch big body sounds like an Acoustic Guitar unplugged. The Ric's & Casino's are close.
The Thinline sounds good too but not much Acoustic volume...
I have to be honest, I've played for a lot of years & have always approached them like Solid Body Electrics.. Just go for great Electric Sounds. I've never really thought about trying adjust the Volume & Tone levels at a Sweet Spot for an Electric & Acoustic Sound.. At least consciously... Maybe subconsciously? I'll have to do some A, B, C & D comps... I'll let you know...

Really? That’s a shame. I thought for sure I remembered you posting about setting it up and how it was way better and more fun. Did that not happen? Why did I think that was a thing?Maggieo wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2019 1:25 pmRocknRollShakeUp wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2019 10:50 pmWell it could happen to the best of ‘em. What about it didn’t work for you?
