Damn! I'm into it!.
Switch is cool. I probably would angle it but it's fine with me.
I saw Last Dinosaurs last night and their guitarist had what looked like an American Performer JM with 3 lipsticks in the strat-style arrangement.
The funny thing was that his 5-way switch was oriented straight vertical, which I'd never seen before and looked kinda goofy, but I guess that works for him.

Well this is what the Player series should've been. No humbuckers and traditional trem placement on a low end mexican model.
Maybe these will be a second alternative to the other Player series JM? Just like the Teles come in both HH and SS configurations.
Exactly!
I like it (and the price too). Here's hoping they make it official and not just a CME exclusive. Available in Europe please!
I love the fact that they actually said that it's routed for a rhythm circuit. Like they know it will be a modding platform.
Is this the closest Fender have got to a Jazzmaster in the 'budget' blacktop/Modern player/Player series?
May the Fuzz be with you

Nice.
But why does it say "pickup configuration: HH"? Accidentally copied over from the original Player specs perhaps.
This should've been the default model, the HH version as the variation.

To my mind this is what the Am Pro JM should have been, function-wise. The Am Pro jaguar got a 4-way (with series) and a phase switch - interesting new functionality. The 9.5" Am Pro jazzmaster strangely got only a 3-way toggle - simplified, cut-down, rather than new functionality. This JM with 4-way adds the series position that the Am Pro JM should have had. You can add a phase switch if you want (or even the 5-way super-switch for everything on one switch). If they're really Pure Vintage 65 pickups as stated, I like this a lot.
Looks like it has the 0081239001 adjustable-saddle-height bridge. And no-lock trem.

Good job CME! More releases like this please.

Rant: That color looks too dark to be IBM for me.

Hideous
If I were obsessed with the color I’d go with MJT and for another ~$200/$300 have an actual Jazzmaster
Or swap out the pickguard and the switch and for another ~$60 have an actual jazzmaster.
Or do nothing, and have an actual jazzmaster. Cause it's already an actual jazzmaster. Otherwise the Johnny Marr Jag wouldn't be an actual Jag.
It’s got the body shape and the trem and the bridge. There are literally telecasters now that are more of a Jazzmaster than this jazzmaster

I already have a nice tort pickguard ( with rythm circuit ) waiting for that Guitar . :-p .
I even have nice Jazzmaster pickups if the stock ones are not that good .
It can be a really cool modding platform .
Maybe the regular Player Jazzmaster will have the classic player pickups like in the picture and the CME exclusive will have av 65 pickups ...

*shrug* Looks pretty cool to me. And I'm not a rhythm circuit guy, so that's right up my alley.

Agreed. But well... Fender colors are all over the place anyways

I'm curious about these Telecasters that are "more of a Jazzmaster than this Jazzmaster."
