There's nothing classier than a matching headstock. And who doesn't like socks? Gorillas, that's who!daysleeperjeff wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 8:25 pm
Interesting to me how crazy people get for matching headstocks around here. I’ve never liked that look. Looks less classy to me and like the guitar has a sock on.

New bridge seems confirmed (from Fender Japan site), like Warmoth modified Mustang bridge as mentioned ... view image URL in tab to enlarge and show it clearly ...
( appears to have have Mustang-size ridged saddles, not the smaller ones like Fender's earlier 0081239001 bridge)

Anyone get their hands on one of these yet? Interested to get some first hand insights on them

Not exactly this run, but the MIJ Traditional predecessor with MIJ electronics. Only gripe was the pickups, which I swapped for AV65s. Also, a Johnny Marr bridge.X-Ray Spex wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 4:48 amAnyone get their hands on one of these yet? Interested to get some first hand insights on them

There can never be too many CFM jags in the world.

Wait what makes these Hybrid again? Is it just an MIJ version of the guitar?

"Hybrid", as far as anyone can tell that I've talked to, refers to the fact that they have some US parts, like the pickups/electronics.Mechanical Birds wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 9:39 amWait what makes these Hybrid again? Is it just an MIJ version of the guitar?
They're basically "pre-upgraded" MIJs with the most common mods already performed on them, and some awesome colours to boot.

Ok cool, yeah, these colors are awesome. I wasn’t real into that first one but these new things look great.

Re: New colours from the Fender Made in Japan Hybrid range!
According to Fender, the "hybrid" is in reference to a fusion of old and new. The "old" is the look (body shape, pickguard, knobs, headstock, decal, etc) and sound (AVRI pickups), the "new" consists of a modern fretboard radius (9.5"), larger frets (medium jumbo), satin neck finish, locking tuners, etc. The P-bass also has a smaller nut width (42.5 mm vs the 44.5mm found on the vintage reissues of the 50s/60s).
Fender Japan's marketing for the Hybrid series calls it "vintage vibe with modern playability".

Re: New colours from the Fender Made in Japan Hybrid range!
I’m in Japan on a business trip, and snuck out on a long lunch and got a Sherwood Green one. I shopped s few stores to get the lightest one, so I saw a few. All of the Sherwood green ones I saw had Mint pickguards. Not much time with it yet, but the neck feels super modern Fender, with the flatter radius, and satin to the back of the neck. It has staggered tuners too. The neck is awesome, if you like modern Fender necks, and I do. I’ll chime in more when I get some time with it. Back to work.
