58 Jazzmaster - 60th
So I'm surfing the net and just seeing what is happening in the Jazzmaster world when I stumble on this absolutely gorgeous thing:
I mean I couldn't even stop from pulling the trigger.....It just really spoke to me.
No Binding, Dot neck...yeah pretty simplistic but a beauty - especially with the strong ash grain.

Hand over the Esquire ......and no one gets hurt

Re: 58 Jazzmaster - 60th
I tried one of these alongside an American Pro JM, a few months ago.
I wanted to compare a modern (no rhythm circuit and V-mod pickups) JM against a vintage style one, and the 58 was the only vintage style JM in the shop.
It was a beautiful instrument. The warm fuzzy output from the rhythm circuit, and the comfortable feel of the vintage radius fretboard decided me against going modern after a couple of minutes playing. I tried the Am Pro first, so the more comfortable feel of the 58 was immediately noticeable.
I might have bought the 58, there and then, but this was going to be my fifth guitar (6th if you count the bass), and I'd set myself a strict sub-£1000 budget, so I ordered in a 60's laquer JM instead. It's not as unique in its looks as the 58 but I still love it.

Re: 58 Jazzmaster - 60th
The original design never really spoke to me and I don’t know why. My ideal traits for these are CBS as hell, though I love the pre-CBS versions as well regardless of finish between the original design and the major CBS alterations, but the 58/59 style has never moved me the same way at all. I love the anodized guard (though it can look dumb as hell with certain finishes) and the ash body and stuff, but I’ve never liked the style of knobs or the earlier seemingly redless 2-tone burst. That blonde (I think? Might be Olympic White) Jazzmaster Kevin Shields plays is beautiful, though.
I mean, I don’t hate it. I definitely think it’s awesome that these exist, as I’m a strong advocate for these guitars getting as many models as possible as they have a ton of catching up to do after decades of indifference by the guitar world. The 58/59 deal is just pretty far from being my favorite.
It’s great when anybody finds something, not even necessarily an instrument, but really anything, that inspires them. I hope you make a lot of cool music with yr new Jazzmaster

The white swith tip would have to be replaced by an amber switchtip and then:
"500€? That's the price of a J Mascis Jazzmaster!"

A few years ago I played every new Jazzmaster before deciding on my Oly White AV65 JM. It's a fabulous Guitar!
That said, if I were to add another the one you Posted & bought would be it! I prefer the Traditional JM's. The others didn't move me at all.
Congratulations & Enjoy!

I didn't like the 58 style Jazzmasters myself for awhile, but it's interesting how sometimes things grow on you. I much prefer the custom colors of the 60s and matching headstocks, but recently got a white blonde 58 Japanese Jazzmaster and really dig the looks (it also doesn't hurt that it plays really well too). I've come around on the 58 aesthetics now and wouldn't mind owning a sunburst one too!

I am in the market for a jazzmaster, so i went to the store to play a couple. They only had one of these, a avri 62, and a custom shop. This was the winner by a mile.
