I went to a jam session recently and brought along my Ibanez ATK bass from 1998. A 14-15 year old teenager was amazed by the cool "vintage bass" I had. And it won't be long until Kurt Cobain is dead longer than he ever lived... face it, all of us are not the kids that are alright anymore, we're their parents!

You really think whatever lawyer/dentist buys this oneoff guitar is gonns be a rabid Nels Cline fan? More likely they'll have never heard of him. Outside of guitar nerddom he's hardly a household name.

That's exactly what I said when I saw the post. You'd think the Custom Shop and Master Builders would slap some good Spitfire on there.

True, but most people stop seeking out new music in our early '20s- it's likely that there are lawyers and dentists out there whose band opened for Sebadoh back in college, but dropped out of music once they started practicing their profession. Now they're in the market for $8K guitars, just like the boomer Blooze Lawyers before them who had no idea about any music after about 1970.

Either way I think 8 grand for a guitar that looks old when you can spend half that and buy one that is old is ridiculous.

And they heavy relics don't look like what vintage guitars look like anyway.

I think spending eight thousand dollars for a solid-bodied instrument is preposterous, unless it has some kind of historical value. Totally lame.
