I've been in 60 cycle hum's comments teaching him how to set up a guitar.

There's nothing wrong with not knowing how to set up a guitar, but making YT vids acting like an authority on the subject, while spewing inaccurate information is a pet peeve of mine.

At least GetOffset admits she doesn't know everything. ;)
Emily is super nice to me on instagram! I look forward to listening to her podcasts every week

I'm super divided on 60 Cycle Hum. He's had a lot of exclusives on guitars that I'm interested in, but I really never can tell how a guitar plays and sounds based on his playing. I get that not everyone is amazing at guitar, and I'm sure that for certain styles he's pretty good (he can easily out-surf me), but his *noodling* just feels really random and graceless. I would like to see him to take a page from The Captain on Andertons and actively try to improve his playing for demo work (The Captain went from average guitarist to a real professional in the course of just a few years).

Having said that, I do appreciate his spirit and his fearlessness when attempting mods on guitars for fun. I guess to sum it up, his videos are fun to watch when he's doing stuff like painting or modding guitars. I just cringe at the ones where he's doing product demos.

His attitude can be a bit abrasive but I respect him for having a defined voice. There's so many demo guys out there these days that what matters for me is to understand what area each person knows his stuff in -- you wouldn't go to Ola Englund for surf demos, for example.

Like if you listen to 60 Cycle Hum's fuzz demos he somehow manages to make every single one of them sound uniformly awful, but you understand the musical mindset he's coming from. I guess similarly you'd go to Andertons' channel if you wanted to hear it exactly how the guys at the guitar store would show it off, but just like the TPS guys the moment they step away from Strats and LPs (and the godawful Chapman equivalents) it's clear they don't really know what they're talking about.

60 Cycle Hum is insufferable.
Ryan was (is?) an active member on the Surfguitar101 forum well before he started the 60 Cycle Hum YT channel. I remember him as a really nice guy.
But as with most people who become Youtube "personalities", I've grown a little annoyed with his clickbaiting antics.

I quite like the 60ch channel, but I'd be more interested in seeing him play the cyclone, seems more his style.

I don't know shit!

But seriously, it's hard to do these videos and be right about everything. Sometimes you're just talking and then you're editing the video and you realize you said something dumb. I completely misspoke in my Enzo demo and had to put up a caption that I'm a dummy and corrected myself there.

But I think Ryan is great! I really like the unboxing stuff because it's true first impressions, and not surprising you get some things wrong when you're going off the cuff like that. I feel like he's one of the few demo folks who comes from the regular guitarist world of hobbiests vs. long-time player/tech/experts, and I really do appreciate that.

I know he and I have both ordered one, but I don't think mine will be in until late August. Don't know about Ryan's.

Your channel is great. Good info, cool playing, straightforward presentation, winning honesty. I was the one who took the complaining about 60 Cycle Hum to the place it's at in this thread, and I'm sure he's a nice dude. But I would much rather watch your content. Thanks for doing what you do!

How long do Squier lines tend to stay in production for? I like the look of the baritone Cabronita since I've been playing my non-offset in C standard lately and want to go even lower, but I can't justify another guitar purchase for a few months.

They tend to stick around. The Vintage Modified line started in the mid-00s and the VM JM/Jag/Mustangs were released in Summer 2012. The original Classic Vibe series started in 2008 and went through until ~2015-17 before it was used to rebrand the VM series. I think the only short run series were ones that tanked. The Vista Series was 96-98 for the MIJ/CIJ models and the "What-were-they-thinking?" Korean-built "Series 24" ran 2002-2004.

From what I've gathered at the store I used to work at Fender is kinda blowing through these right now and will be happy to sell you one a few months from now.

The only thing is this range seems akin to the Pawn Shop and Parallel Universe lines, which were limited. It feels like a Squier version of that.
