My resolve to hold off weakened and I've pre-ordered a Squier Paranormal Cyclone in Daphne Blue from Music Zoo (via Reverb) with estimated shipping date of August 4. :?

I've had the Squier Paranormal Cabronita Telecaster Thinline in Fiesta Red on order from Adorama since June - they say it's on backorder, so I'm assuming I won't be seeing it until mid to late September.

It might have been said elsewhere in the thread but does anyone know if Paranormal is a limited run series or a more long term part of the Squier line. I really want 2-3 of them but can't afford a new guitar right now as I'm saving to move house (would probably limit myself to one new guitar) - I'm kind of worried they'll be a thing of the past before I'm ready to get one or they'll be on Reverb at vastly inflated prices). Unusually for me it's the non-offset models I'm GASsing for (both Cabronita models - and the Toronado maybe). I'm also really digging the CV Jag in Shell Pink, although I might hold out till I have a little more money and get the Vintera Jag in Ocean Turquoise.

The reason they got delayed was whoever was in charge noticed they got white pickups and black switches. They were all immediately set on fire and they had to start over building guitars with matching switches and pickups. Fuck sake fender. It's not hard. It doesnt even cost more. STOP BEING LAZY
I actually dig the white on white look, makes it look different from every other mustang out there
I'm fine with white on white, but make the switches match too.

Another anticipated stock date from my "rep" has come and gone for Sweetwater having the Cyclones. I know some people here said they had been quoted sometime in August. I think I'm going to resign myself to that being the truth

The promo pictures of the cyclone look like it has a mustang thickness body rather than the strat thickness that the cyclone has had in the past. Its also missing the tornado cartoon on the headstock as well from the original Fender and Squier models

I was actually super disappointed when I noticed that, I loved the little cyclone playing a cyclone

Freakishly Fender does currently make a Cyclone shirt with the logo.

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

haworthguitars, an australian store on instagram mentioned the paranormal line being limited, but thats the only place where ive seen that information. i hope its not true, or that these will sell well enough that fender keep the line for a few years.

That looks great! Mine arrived a few hours ago but other than looking at it I wont be getting my hands on it until later.

I too think I will take the tort guard off, looks ok but the white or cream guard looks better to me. Fretboard is dry but that's ok, these laurel boards look good after some lemon oil.

No flaws on mine, looks and feels more premium than its price.

damn this is all good to hear! Im not getting my hopes up all too much on a perfect setup, i just hope the fret ends wont be mega sharp. i assume ill have to slightly widen the nut slots for heavy bottom 11s, and will probably need a neck shim for optimal action. My vm wasnt perfect when i got it either, but after messing around with it for a year it did get there.

Also im immediately changing the tort for pearl, thats going to look even cooler than the cream/mint green (?) above

Fret ends are not sharp on mine, so hopefully yours will be the same. I think the other photo might be an ivory pickguard, which I don't have. I do have a few, most of which are an instant no! Think I will stick with the stock dark tort or the cream for now:
