I like the design. As much as I agree that a TOM bridge wouldn't be my first choice, a roller bridge and a Les Trem would be the perfect thing for it...

If you like photoshopping things... Stock bridge etc., but cream P-90 and humbucker plz?

I'd be very tempted to get one and put a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge.

I was reading through this thread, preparing to write about how much I really do not dig this guitar. But this
mock-up appeals to me. If the pickup covers/mounts were something other than black, like cream for example I would quite happily own this. I like the body shape and the pickguard shape.

I personally don’t have any issue with TOM/stop bar setups (I have the Starcaster reissue - although I have put a Les Trem where the stop bar was) but on a solid body Fender they just don’t look right.

I kind of like it. It's good to see Fender put out an actually unique body style.

I'm a huge fan of G&L, and this is an obvious rip-off of the Fallout, but, okay? The Fallout's layout of HB bridge and P90 neck isn't original. In fact, it is somewhat of a modern trend.

My problem with the Fallout, and why I sold my, is because the SC-2 body size is just too small for me. This looks to be closer in size, but a bit smaller than a Jazzmaster. I like that.

Although, the HB isn't something I'm dying to have, I'm tempted to get this and put a StagMag in the bridge and a Firebird in the neck.

You bring up a great point, actually. I briefly owned a G&L Tribute Fallout and I liked just about everything about it except for the neck (12” radius feels weird on Fender-style guitars to me) and the small body. Playing it standing felt especially weird. I’m 6’2” so it might work better for others, but...I don’t own it anymore.

I would probably get on better with the Powercaster than the Fallout, realistically. I like the way it looks with a JM trem a lot more than stock, too. It’s growing on me :P

I think a mustang bridge and a JM trem would be the perfect thing for it, but a roller bridge and a les trem would be a redemption of sorts...

I should just build a fallout with those things. I like the fallout, and this attempt at one that fender's doing is kinda uninspired but it's something, I guess.

I agree. For me personally, I'd rather build something from scratch than modify, at least to the point where modifications require routing into an already finished body. That's my only preference for a roller bridge and Les Trem: ease of modification and ease of returning to standard, i.e., no chance of ruining what you paid for.

And me, I can't be bothered to care about ruining things. Which is why I tend to prefer squiers, I guess.

An interesting insight to Fender's design process, if nothing else.

Suggests that it's worth keeping an eye on weird things that turn up in photos from Fender because sooner or later they'll see the light of day.

Another interesting point: there's an article right below it about 'how Sonic Youth invented the Jazzblaster'. Now, the Thurston Moore signature JM and a Jag-stang were both in those Fender Hollywood photos a couple of years ago... As was the then-unreleaed AmPro series and a Powercaster.

Sod's law says they'll both be reissued almost immediately after I spend my hard earned money on a Powercaster!

Props to Fender for giving it a proper logo. I'll never forgive them for releasing the Jaguarillo without that beautiful word written out on the headstock.

Anyone who finds one or takes one home, let us know all about it. I'm interested (while skeptical about the bridge).

They started shipping a couple weeks ago, but I haven't come across one yet in person. Hopefully someone will be able to get a look up close and post something.
