Looks great to me... my thin skin '65 from Wildwood is my favorite guitar (having owned a lot of stuff I paid a lot more for), and I've been on the hunt for a '62 thin skin as I tend to like unbound necks, but they are real hard to find... guess people like them. Maybe one of these is in my future...

I want to see ‘66 reissues so bad. The cbs style offsets are like the last thing for Fender to reissue in terms of these kinds of guitars but it just seems like it’s never gonna happen. Always really annoyed me that Fender japan sold a million jazzmaster s marketed as a 66 reissue but actually had none of the appointments that make those guitars different, and even on the ones with B&B necks, the decals were wrong.

Don’t wanna ruin the thread and I know I post something like this every time a new reissue is announced but come on. Those TVL and anniversary jazzmasters have the same thing going on - wrong decal or whatever and the blocks aren’t right. Come on Fender make my life.

This ‘59 thin skin is real pretty :)

Looks nice but no clay dots?? Come on, Fender, you had them on the other ‘59 reissues.

And ‘65 pickups in these? :fp:

As a fan of those pickups.... they are hard to beat.

Those look like clay dots to me, just not aged.

I wonder what the neck carve is like, I have a neck from the original 2008 AVRI thinskin 59 on my AV65, it’s super slim but I really like it, although I loved the thicker original AV65 neck too, it was more an aesthetic choice as much as anything.

I guess these could like a blonde 60th anniversary JM (the US one) with AV65 pickups. Strange choice of pickups but a still a gorgeous guitar nonetheless - I want one!

In the pictures the magnets are beveled, so my guess would be they're more likely to be the '62 re-issues if they're not winding a special run of pickups. The "Specifications" at the bottom of the page were probably just copied over from the '65 without being updated because it also lists Alder body after the description at the top says it's Ash.

These look great. I wouldn’t trust the specs, as noted about ash vs alder and pickup poles.

That looks super cool.

I also prefer unbound necks and I dig the opaque finish.

Kind of blows my mind how many JM options there are to choose from now.

Dunno... my Wildwood '65 has a pretty chunky C - my guess is it'll be that profile since it seems popular, and they are keeping the 9.5" radius. Eyeballing the pic of the back of this one makes me think that's the case.

Very cool Guitar! Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Pics look like Seafoam Green but description says White Blond?

Transparent white/blonde, which comes off a little blue/green.

A friend of mine had one of Wildwoods FSR White Blond RI JM's a few years ago. I'm pretty sure it was either a '59 or '62... It was a beautiful Guitar & didn't look blue/green at all..... More yellowed aged look...

Where can I get that Pickguard for my AV65 JM?

Thanks

It’s beautiful...but it seems weird to have a 1959 thinskin that has the same specs and parts as the AV65 Jazzmasters.

They probably copied and pasted the specs from the AV65, since they don't fit with the paragraph describing the guitar. We probably won't get the real specs till later.
