No love for Dakota Red or the Firemist twins. Sad.
Torino Red used to be Squier only color on Fenders in the early 90's when I first got in the game.
I remember one of the first Fender's after that time period to bring it back was an Eric Clapton Signature Strat.
Everyone at the time was like wooooooow a 2000 dollar guitar that looks exactly like a 100 dollar one.

I had to vote for Olympic White as it is what I have the most of (Johnny Marr Jag / American Pro Jazzmaster) but the dream is to fill out the collection with the full chromatic spectrum.

Wow. Even today, if you didn't tell us all that info I still would have thought that was a Squier but I wouldn't be able to put my finger on why.

Genuinely don’t understand how Fender sells the Clapton Strat for as much as they do. I don’t think it’s even finished in nitro and thus to me is pretty much an American Standard with different wiring/pickups maybe?
In no world ever should that justify charging 5/6 times the amount of the cheaper guitar. Just insane. Has anyone ever played one and could maybe explain what the hell is going on with them being able to sell the Clapton Strat for the price they charge?

I think they make a bunch of necks specifically for that model, that they won't use on other ones. the midboost, the "premium" pickups, the not-quite-standard finish options... plus, it makes the cheaper models seem better value if they're near-enough in terms of spec so maybe pricing the EC high serves as an advert for the other models? or something?

Even just out of the shades of green, Sherwood is obviously the worst. I mean, the transparent forrest green is kinda niche, but at least it has a real Earthy vibe.
Surf green; Sea Foam green; Sage green metallic; Mystic Seafoam; trans forrest green; Sherwood; Margarita metallic; Sage (MIM).
This isn't even all the greens...
All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

Nice stable of greens. I guess it's all a matter of taste because I like the Sherwood and Seafoam best in that picture.

Disagree completely - the dark of Sherwood is much, much classier than the others, as illustrated beautifully by that photo! I've got a soft spot for transparent colours too though.

I have a soft spot for the modern/AVRI edition Sherwood, as a photo of a Sherwood AVRI JM in the ads back in '97 or '98, whenever they accounced the second coming of American offsets, was what made me say "damn, that's the most beautiful Fender I've ever seen."
That AVRI was responsible from turnings from a strat guy into an Offset guy, though I wouldn't own one until I got my MIJ Jag a few years later.
I still don't have a guitar in that awesome, dark Sherwood. It's distinctly different from the vintage examples, and even better looking IMO.
That photo really gives me an appreciation for the diversity of Fender greens. It's missing the Olive from the new mustangs, though, but that's hardly the most attractive green they e ever put out.
The artist formerly known as mbene085.

Sherwood green is my least favorite color on any offset, I'm laughing to myself that it's what everyone else likes! Oh well, to each his own

To me, metallic colors look best on Jazzmasters and pastels look best on Jaguars. I think Fiesta Red and Daphne Blue Jazzmasters look cool enough for example, but they are a bit bland looking without all the chrome the Jaguar has IMO. I think the metallic colors are generally interesting enough that they don't need chrome to be present, hence they go better with the Jazzmaster.
Overall though, I prefer Jaguars to Jazzmasters and my all-time favorite has always been Sonic Blue on a Jaguar, followed closely by Seafoam Green.

I was trying to decide what colours look best on any fender shape, not just offsets. For my mind, sonic blue and Olympic white satisfy this criteria best, closely followed by black.
If I think of individual shapes, my favourites (currently) would be:
Strat - Shoreline gold
Tele - Olympic white
Jazzmaster - inca silver
Jag - Sonic blue
Mustang - fiesta red
Jazz bass - black
Ask me tomorrow and I'll probably say something different! There are so many great options.
Cheers!
J.
