That would be as close to perfect as I can reasonably imagine!

What would make more sense to me would be a Mascis Telemaster/Offset Telecaster. After all, Telecasters are the only Fenders other than Jazzmasters that he's really been known to use live.
It would also be an excuse to introduce a Squier Offset Telecaster. If it had a neck and overall quality to match the JMJM, oh man would that ever be sweet...

Years back I was pushing for them to release a Squier version of the Marr even though I had the Marr Jag already.
But after some thought, it wouldn't make sense for them.
The Marr Jag is priced fairly well at $1799 and they've not raised the price when they released the Sherwood Green and the Lake Place Blue.
Fender knows that this price point makes it a relatively easy sell for most people looking to buy it new.
Not only that, the Marr Jag has so many specific changes that makes the Jaguar special that it would be lost trying to cut costs on a Squier model.
The pickups are Bareknuckles so it wouldn't sound anything like it on a Squier model with most likely Duncan Designed pups.
The neck profile, body contour modeled after a Strat that Johnny likes, etc... a lot of things would be lost
Not to mention that they came out with the Professional Jaguars that have the modified Mustang bridge and the 4-way blade switch. You can get them used or under a grand.
At that point, charging $349-499 for a Squier Marr would have a lot of customers thinking: "Man... for a few more hundred, I could just buy the Marr used."

Everyone would. They'll never do that.

Yeah, I know that's dreamin'. What if they were like American Performer Series maybe under $1500 even?

I think Fender is doing a great job on their various offset guitars. I'd love to see them pay more attention to Custom Shop amps, and build more/various models.
