New 20+ year old Jazz Bass Day

Post by Jaguar018 » Mon Dec 10, 2018 7:45 am

Went up to see my old college bandmate/pal this weekend and was able to bring back his neglected bass that he used to play. :w00t: It was still in its moving box outside in his garage. Made in Japan 94/95. Need to clean it up, change the strings and work on the intonation.

That's a nice one right there. I like Jazz Basses, I used to own a Fender and now have a G&L version. Great instruments.

That's a very nice one too, with the block inlays and such. Congratulations!
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Give it some La Bella Deep Talkin flats. You know it's the right thing to do.

100%. :-*

I miss my old Jazz Bass. It was also a 20 year old MIJ beauty, and it really sang. I don't know why I let it go, I wish I hadn't.

Congrats!!
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Jazz basses are my favourite of the Fender line. Love them. Love how the neck starts off somewhat narrow and tapers out as it goes towards the body.
Love them fretted and unfretted.
Nice score. It’s got that 70s vibe.

That bass's color scheme is pretty much what made me do my Jag natural with a white pickguard. I love that look.

Plugged it in for the first time and it’s got some grounding issues and a questionable pickup. :squint: It’ll be fun to get it back into proper shape.

Nice one! I still have my MIM Jazz Bass from way back when. Its never needed anything, always a really sturdy, solid bass. Love the look and feel! Cool that this was also from what I assume were potentially nostaligic times. 8)

My friend is an art/ graphic designer type. Total perfectionist in certain facets of his life. I think he struggles with just how sloppy and unpolished we were back then as well as some of the dumb drama. I've managed to make my peace with all that, and it's a cool looking bass. If you didn't already know, I'm an avid Fender B&B neck fan. Can't get enough!

I think you have a typo. Didn't you mean to type purple blue or green big flake sparkle refin? :P Honestly, the bass is more on 'permanent loan' than 'mine,' so I'm not gonna mess with the looks unless I okay it with my friend first.
