Excited about the new Fender performer series?

I love my offsets, but aren't fender tinkering a bit much with the new range? Thoughts?

Excited about the Mustang. Looks like just the right amt. of tinkering. I'm sure the rest of them play just fine, they're more interesting than the American Special series they replace, and they're priced about as low as you can get new American guitars for (& some Mexican models now go for about the same amount ~$1k.)

The Penny Mustang yeah--I'd get that. And that blue Tele too if it had a substantial neck.
50,000 watts out of Mexico, this is the BorderRadio...

I don't like all the models, but I am happy to see that Fender is still choosing to compete at this price point with American made guitars. Someone pointed out that they went a little crazy putting a Jazz bass pickup on everything whether it needed it or not, that's kind of lame, but the Micawber style Telecaster is a great guitar more than likely at a pretty good price.

If it was me, I'd just kill the Mexican made Fender "Standard" line and let Squier finally take over at that price point and quality level, and let this Performer line be the entry level Fender product. That would all make sense to me.

I'm sure these are very well made guitars, like Fenders are. If you like the appointments, I bet they'll make anyone very happy.

I’m also intrigued by the Mustang. I will be on the lookout to try one. I want the Penny finish. My daughter’s name is Penelope/Penny.
ZERO interest in the Jazzmaster. I’d rather get a G&L Doheny, since the DFV is superior to a 6 point strat trem and the MFD Doheny pups are unique.
I am surprised they didn’t offer up a bastardized Jaguar.

I definitely want to see what that Mustang vibrato is all about.

Like others have stated, the Mustangs are the most interesting thing about the line. If Fender did more stuff like that, minor tweaks and useful updates on a classic with new colors, I'd be more inclined to buy their guitars new.

I also dig the P-Bass in Penny, and am trying to resist buying it outright.

The Standard Series was discontinued when the Player Series was announced.
Sometimes with Fender wishes do come true.
I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

Is this the 4th or 5th thread about them?
Jaguar > Jazzmaster :)

I dislike the neck on the performer Mustang so it's a pass for me.
