I kind of wondered the same thing. Is there any chance these were supposed to be announced at Winter NAMM?zeero9 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 7:23 pmGreat find! It doesn’t seem to be a Fender sanctioned announcement. I can’t find any similar news anywhere else. When the Player was officially announced, multiple review videos went up simultaneously and the new models were available for order immediately on many stores. I remember being very impressed by the coordinated effort. This is a far cry from that, so I imagine someone’s in trouble!

I'm interested to hear the tone of the Mustang bass' traditional pickups with J-bass pickups. Colors look cool too.

The current American Special models with rosewood are $1050 street price.vistavision wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 5:05 pmThey've been manufacturing those bodies for 2 years now so it makes sense. I'm guessing they're doing well enough with the MIM Offset Series to offer an upgrade.
Anybody know the price range on this stuff?

Re: Fender American Performer Mustang & Mustang Bass
Winter NAMM announcement was my assumption. Those are a lot of new models for a low key release so near NAMM. But Thomann now says 3-4 weeks availability so what do I know?
Edit: Tele is one week away, Strat 2-3!

Re: Fender American Performer Mustang & Mustang Bass
Anyone notice in the photos of the Mustang that the bridge is on backwards? And what's going on with the tuners? The pic of the front of the headstock looks like modern tuners, but the back headstock shows vintage tuners, but there aren't even mounting screws. Seems like a bad photoshop mockup.Futuron wrote: ↑Sun Nov 18, 2018 3:49 amGUYS! Pre-order plus other pics:

Probably not very purple though, at least going by the pics of the other models in that colour. Looks to be mostly very dark red, a bit of brown or purple mixed in? Will have to wait for "real" photos and "in-person" sightings before the gavel comes down of course.
It's curious about those photo issues, but that serial number checks out. US18037322

the tuning heads on the mustang guitar are unique.
notice there's no screws holding them in? Must be lugs instead.

Re: Fender American Performer Mustang & Mustang Bass
You are right. I had another look at the Jazzmaster that was on ebay and it's the same. Probably modern tuners that simply have the vintage shape on the back. Strange. I wonder if they can be directly swapped with the normal modern tuners (ie will the locking ones plug straight in).CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Sun Nov 18, 2018 4:37 pmthe tuning heads on the mustang guitar are unique.

Re: Fender American Performer Mustang & Mustang Bass
I reckon they would be very similar to the Kluson Revolution tuners. They are sealed tuners but shaped to look vintage.Futuron wrote: ↑Sun Nov 18, 2018 11:35 pmYou are right. I wonder if they have made any adjustments to the vibrato so it actually works.
